    déjà vu (14. SHES MIRING)

    SHES MIRING

She slowly turned left to look at the desktop calendar which reads March 28 as today's date !

Sharmi could not remove her eyes from the calendar. She couldn’t believe the fact that Shree was talking about a day which was supposed to happen. Sharmi thought “Its impossible” giving a look again at the invitation

The ball of fire started to fall below the horizon, that being an atmospheric phenomena. The MASTER clock on the wall was showing thirty minutes past five.

“Amma, naan kovilukku poittu varen” shouted Sharmi standing on the doorstep of the front porch.
“Sharmi, varum bodhu Shree amma va paathutta vaa, unna aathukku vara sonna” shouted her mother from the kitchen.
“seri mma” answered Sharmi n walked down the street with her favourite satin half saree.

Sharmi walked down the street towards Shree’s house. A big mountain of dilemma keeps disturbing her. She didn’t like the way Shree spoke to her this morning, so with the usual payback mind, she didn’t want to go to the temple along with her. She crossed her house and kept walking.

Sharmi wouldn’t have taken few steps from Shree’s house, when the innocent and impeccant smile of Shree. “It was very bad of me to have such a small mind, namba friend thane avo” thinking this, she turned back and walked towards Shree’s house.

She reached the house, and entered the house calling “Shree, Shree … “

“Vaa Sharmi, enna paritchai yellam nalla badiya mudichachu, so what are ur plans” was Bhashyam Iyengar’s voice from the dining table.
Sharmi turned to her right to see Shree’s father, sitting on the dining table chair with his right leg on top of his left lap and a powered glass, going through the same colorful invitation of SriNandan’s performance.

“Amaam Shree pa…. free dhaan … naan CAT yezhudhalaam nnu irukken. I have to start preparing “

“Good aim ! All the best Sharmi “

    “Thanks Shree pa”

“Appadiye avalum yenna ninachundu irukkannu kettu sollumma, she s not opening her mouth….. vaaye thirakkala – yeppo paathaalum andha room laye adanju kidakkara … nalla vela avo amma sonnanuttu ippo dhaan kovilukku pona”

“Sharmi nee pogala” was Kamalam’s voice “Avo ungathukku varalaya” she said coming out from the kitchen with a big silver tumbler with coffee.

“Oh, illa Shree mma, avo innikki yenna near vara sonna, naan dhaan marandhu poitten…. Seri Shreemma Shreeppa naannum poittu varen”

    “seri mma, seekiram vandhudungo”

“Seri Shree mma” so saying Sharmi walked down from the footsteps still perplexed. Being with Shree for nearly 10 years, they both have never left the other while going to the temple. She walked down the Chitirai veedhi with her mind not completely on anything else but Shree.

“Sharmi mma, yenga? kadai ya thaandi poikitte irukeenga ?” “Yenga Shree mma? Yeppavum serndhu illa varuveenga ?” questioned Rangan, the owner of the flower shop.

“Rangan nna, sorry, yedho nyaabagathula poinde irundhutten” “ Shree vandhaalaa?”

“yenna ma neenga, neenga rendu perum thaniya vandhu yennikki naan paathirukken?” “yen unga kooda varalayaa?”

“Illa Ranga nna, varala” said Sharmi “Yen?” Ranga didn’t want to stop there “Veetula paartheengala ?”

“illa, anga avo illa” “yenakku yennamo manase seri illa, naan aathukku poren”

“anh an…. Kovilukku nnu kilambi vandhuttu thirumbi poga koodaadhu ma” “vayasu pullainga, kovilukku poradhu punniyam, paravaa illa, poittu vaanga”

“illa ranga nna, manase seri illa, avo yennkikumae yenna vittutu ponadhilla” before she could complete Ranga overtook her and said “Illa ma, yenakku yennamo neenga kovilukku pogaama thirumbi poradhu seri ya padala, neenga sannidhikki ponga, nichiyama neenga mudhal pradhakshinam panrathukulla Shree mma vandhuduvaanga …neenga venumnna parungalen ……”

Sharmi gave a smile to Ranga “seri ranga nna” “Pushpam kudungo”

“Anh….. indhaanga” so saying ranga delivered the usual set of flowers to Sharmi.

Sharmi slowly entered the temple premises, slowly walking down the garuda mandapam, witnessing the high Garudan. She came down towards the cloak room, walked down to the tap. She washed her feet and took some water from her right hand and sprinkled on her. She turned around to walk towards the Sakkarathazhwar sannidhi.

She slowly entered the mantapam and went to the left to see Shri Hanuman being adorned with chenturam. She folded her hands and took them towards her forehead bending slightly showing her intense praying. Then she moved around anjaneyar to enter into the chakkarathazhwar sannidhi.

The moment she entered the sannidhi Sharmi could not take her eyes off from ................
