    Dear Pradeep,

My knowledge about Siddhars is almost exclusively from books. As far as I am aware Siddharsa are mystics of Tamil Saivism, just like Sufis are mystics in Islam, Kabbalists in Judaism and Gnostics in Christianiy.

Siddhars do not talk about philosophy, although Moolar is an exception. Like all mystics, Siddhars insist on having a Guru and thus mystical paths are always guided paths by an intermediary.

    Hi
I have been inspired and interested to know about siddhars life and teachings. I have been reading some articles on the net but I wish to purchase some books on the same. Please advise me someone on what I should read and what place should I visit in India to gather more information. I am a Singaporean and far from getting first hand information on such issues.
By the way are there any women siddhars? The lives of siddhars are gender stereotyped. I wish to know if there has been women siddhars, about their lives and services rendered.
Thank you. looking forward to hearing from someone.

    Yoga Centres

    Dear Sukuna and to all,

When you have a desire to learn yoga or siddhar, etc. You can firstly consider to involve in YOGA training centre. which is guided by a GURU. You can normally locate such centre worldwide, but if you do stay at Malaysia, i can guide you to the learning centres. There are few of such learning centre in Malaysia & Singapore.

    For your Q, Ms.Sukuna.
Well maybe there is pre-requistics in siddhar training in India, but at most of the centres, gender is not a issue at all since man and women are all the same in basis.
If you need further info for YOGA centre at Singapore. post me....

    Thank You.
Have a nice day ALWAYS !!!

yoga classes & way fo siddhars

    Hi
thanks for the reply seems like I can see the first port of call. Please advise about the centres available in Singapore. But to my knowledge, being in Singapore, what I have seen here is that Yoga classes have been seriously commercialised. It is more to the sphere of being exercise classes for slimming and fitness. I know that Yoga is not about all that although keeping fit is related to a healty mind.It is hard to come by a yoga class with absolute divinity in mind and objective. Please do advise me if there is one Singapore, that you are aware of.
Thank you and have a pleasant day
    Regards
    Sukuna

    Siddham...Saagasam..!

Hello, to the peoples and also to you Sukuna...

First of all there are some basic concepts about Siddargal(Siddhar).
Anyone can become a Siddhar Men or Women, Chilren or old peoples no restriction.
First of all i want to tell that Yoga is really more different from Siddhar concepts...!
But there is a striking similarity between the approach in practising the art to achieve their Aim. Because of this everybody is thinking that both are same.

    Siddham is meant for intelligentness.
Siddham is also meant for Success.

    Siddhars are really inteligent peoples.

There are two Classes(types) of Siddhars.
1.Who Does meditation and practice SiddaKalai(siddhar's Arts) inside jungles or in caverns.
2.Who wrote poems for peoples and more linked with peoples.
(Anybody can buy books written by them in book shops)]
    Mainly 18 Siddhars including
    1.Paampaatti Siddhar
    2.Idaikaattu Siddhar
    3.Thirumoolar(very well known)
    4.Puli Paani
    these are south indian Siddhar...
Apart from them Kabilar and many lived in North india.
Books are available about their life history and their poems.

Among them i like Tirumoolar and Kabilar.

Talking about the first class of Siddhars,
There is no guru for a Siddhar. They are themselves Guru for them. They are all living inside forests and Caves. They don't like to interact with peoples.

I have seen somebody in some villages(nearly a forest)
while i entered a place one Siddhar is doing something (practise)He is upside down. his head is inside the soil and his body is outside vertically upwards. And no movement in his body. I asked about him in the nearby village. They explained me throughout daytime he will be like this.

And in another one place a Siddhar is standing in one leg, folding his another leg. He has a position of worshiping the god. His eyes are looking at the sky.

I am only interested in this type of Siddhars.

Near this place in one cave one Swamiji is living... i just went to him and asked about this Siddhar. He told me that this Siddhar Wants to defeat death...! He also said that the Siddhars age may be more than 100 now...

Actually Siddhars will do some practises in lonelyness. not in a group.
Aim of Every Siddhar may differ.
They normally will not depend anything. They will tend to become independent of food water and even air. They are also practising for these .

In my life i am dedicating the month february for practising some SiddaKalai(Siddhar's Arts)

In this february 2005 i have planned to practise to become independent of sleep. So i am going to sleep only in the alternative days of february.

Anybody really that much interested in Siddhar's Arts can also practise something upto their wish...and become one of the Siddhar.

    Siddham Saagasam...!

If George Feuerstein is a great scholar on Yoga, the best scholar I know on Tamil Siddhars is G.N. Ganapathy. There are many articles written by on the net (for eg, check this out:
    http://www.babaji.ca/english/articles/research4.html

The best book known to me on this is by Ganapathy:
The Philosophy Of The Tamil Siddhas IDE009 by TN Ganapathy Hardcover (Edition: 2004) Indian Council of Philosophical Research ISBN 81-85636-03-6
Cling to the One Who clings to nothing
