This year the south Filmfare awards are to be announced on stage like the Oscars. The function will take place in Chennai’s Nehru stadium on September 9.
It is the Lead Actor (Female) category that has created a lot of buzz. Those in the race are Asin (‘Ghajini’, ‘Majaa’) , Jyothika (‘Chandramukhi’), Sada (‘Anniyan’) and Laila (‘Kanda Nal Muthal’). Who will walk away with the best actress trophy?
Under normal circumstances it should be a cakewalk for Kalpana of Ghajini a neatly well-etched out character. But one can’t rule out Jyothika’s much talked about act as a possessed woman in Chandramukhi!
Added to that, Jo has a lot of goodwill and support from her fans who knows that it will be her last chance to win another award (She has two Filmfare awards in her showcase) and another one would be an appropriate wedding gift for her!
In the leading actor (Male) category are Vikram (‘Anniyan’), Vijay (‘Sivakasi’), Suriya (‘Ghajini’), Cheran (‘Thavamai Thavamirunthai’) and Jeeva (‘Raam’). Vikram is the hot favourite to walk away with the award!

Best Villan should've been Pratham Ravat for Thotti Jeya and Gajini.
