    The song Jab dil jale aana... from the movie Chitchor is mentioned under Kalyan and Yaman at different sites. But in the movie itself, Amol Palekar says it is in Malkauns!!!
    So which is correct??

    Its quivalent is yaman(hindustani).

    This "Saarang family" article has one sample that differentiates Megh and mahdmath Saarang, clearly showing that megh is madhyamavathi.

    madhmadh Sarang = megh in swarams.
    The sample(in Hindhi) discusses the difference. From swarams point of view, both are madhyamavathi.
    First he sings madhmath Sarang(more of ma->ri prayogam), second Megh(all swarams independent).

    ghanana ghanana - Lagaan is Megh Malhar.
    (derived from kaapi).
