When u consider hollywood, even if a film fails at the BO, the producer wont be much affected coz their films have a market all over the world and when released worldwide, a film will escape in terms of financial losses. They can also insure their films, which is not there in indian films..
A tamil producer cant take risks like this. If a big budget film flops, he will be in dire straights. Eg: KT Kunjumoan, AM Rathnam. A lot more to point out. So they select the safest route, the commercial entertainers. However producers like shanker try to break the shackles now, which shud be welcomed.
