The Cinema industry is evolving both positively and negatively. In a country of hero worshippers what more can one expect from producers. At the end of the day all involved are making a living, so they have to make sure that they don't lose money. If movies based on heroism flops(not supported by people) regularly, then the producers would not stake their money on such movies.
It’s a simple logic - we are a group of hero worshippers - and the hero controls almost everything as long as he has a huge fan following.
As far as song and dance sequence goes, i hope they continue for eternity. Even if it is considered silly running around trees and some songs have really bad lyrics, its one solid platform that has made our classical and folk music flourish and evolve.
No to the pop culture and yes for the movie songs !!!!

One positive sign these days is that technicians like cameraman, art director , editor are being noticed and given lots of importance even by movie watchers
