In 1961 the hindi film "Shor" was released and there is a song "ek pyaar ka nagma hain". This song is sung by the hero after he loses his wife. And he explains life through the following lines "kuch paakar khona hai, kuch khokar paana hai; jeevan ka matlab to aana aur jaana hai" meaning "In gaining you must lose something, in losing you must gain something; the meaning of life is losing and gaining"

Now let us look at Paalum pazhamum released in 1961. "vaazhkai enbadhu vyaabaaram; jananam enbadhu varavaagum; maranam enbadhu selvaagum"

Santhosh Anand the lyricist for 'ek pyaar ka nagma' should have been definitely influenced by kavignar's 'ponaal pogattum poda' and 'ek pyaar ka nagma' was nominated for filmfare award for best lyricist and he almost won the filmfare award

I think he was more influenced by Pattinaathaar, as usual.

Last night I watched parts of Bhagyalakshmi again. Again Kannadhasan's brilliance shone through.

Just examine the lyrics of this ordinary love song. The premise is quite simple. Gemini Ganesan and EV Saroja are lovers and this is a love song. The girls sings of the moon, which is a common theme of lovers....

Ayyoo venam, I'll find out myself

It's a lovely song, one of my mom's favourite. I used to think that it was written by Pattukoottai
