    AnbarE!

So, the data is very reliable???

And you use the data to claim "sivaji the loss" NOW?

IN another 4 years Kamal fans like you would start claiming that "sivaji the flop" I suppose??

Is this how you guys create history- by lying and faking and manipulating- everything for WHAT??

To make your "olaga naaykkan" the greatest?
This is a very big world!

Kochadaiiyaan and Veeram grab the top spots

The first 6 months of the year 2014 have passed by, and the year has seen a fair share of hits and misses. There have been a sizeable number of films featuring superstars which have earned the big bucks, and also content-oriented films which haven't done much harm to their small investments.

In the USA, a market which is dominated by films featuring the big Tamil superstars (Rajini, Kamal, Vijay, Ajith, Suriya and Vikram) and also big directors like Shankar, films like Kochadaiiyaan, Veeram and Jilla have done well in the first half of the year.

Here we present a list of the Top 5 Tamil box-office grossers in the USA (excluding Canada), in the first half of the year. All these movies were distributed by ATMUS Entertainment.

    1. Kochadaiiyaan (Tamil version) - around 633,000 USD, the Hindi and Telugu versions contributed another 30,000 USD

    2. Veeram - 243,955 USD

    3. Jilla - 230,221 USD

    4. Maan Karate - 73,015 USD

    5. Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal - 33,273 USD

Biggies such as Anjaan, Kaththi, 'Thala 55', Uttama Villain, Lingaa, Vishwaroopam 2 and Ai, are expected to take the US by storm in the coming months.

Impressive that a mediocre SS movie could still do as much as Vijay's best - Thuppakki or any Ajith's best in the US market! Still ways to go for them to rival the SS.

Idhu kathirvelan kadhal - 33k total -> pathetic performance.

I tend to disagree with this statement "Ajith - Vijay" has long way to go touch "SS - KH"

When KH & SS entered cinema previous generation Big Actors like MGR & Sivaji stopped acting/stopped frequency of acting(lead role),That made SS & KH to develop a strong base for them and then capitalize on the same.Whereas for Ajith & Vijay their Seniors are still very much in business But both these actors have developed a strong base once Stalwarts retired/lessen the frequency of acting.

I'm 100% sure even Ajith & Vijay can touch or even surpass(considering business model in coming years) SS & KH movie collection .

Your arguments are ok and may happen that way but they are still predictions. We have to go by the evidence on ground. Even during periods of very limited movies of SS (like one in 3 or 4 years), we've not seen any added thrust to the markets of V & A. But if you say they will have to quit acting see results as you postulate, well then it certainly is not the time now. Notice I'm not including KH here since the above mentioned actors are not in his space.

In today and future's economy, demography is/will play big role. India has become more younger nation (median age is 27) in past 15 years. In 2020, India will be the youngest nation in the world. It's practically daunting task for a 60+ old man to bring young generation people to theater. RK/KH has seen more cultural/economic/technological etc changes in industry than their predecessors. But they are still ruling the roost. Kudos to them....

Bill has not included KH in his post, not sure why are u pulling him into this..

I don't think Ajith or Vijay would be able to touch or beat the records of Superstar going by the current trends...

    Both of them are not trying to do some great movie so that it will create record in collections;

They are aiming at satisfying their respective fans &

Want their movies to be minimum guarantee

If they take risk by doing movies with entirely new different storyline, with more scope for acting coupled with good supporting technicians they may be able to come to that stage...

    Will that happen?
