Also, one would see KJY / KSC / LM pics typically on music shops in KL (even in 80's / 90's the recording center culture wasn't there), who were primarily counted responsible for sale at those counters and not the composers...contrast that with TN of 80's

ரொம்ப சரியா சொன்னீங்க.. இப்போதும் அது தொடருது.. சமீபத்துல ஊருக்கு போயிருந்தோம், ரொம்ப நாளைக்கு பிறகு. எனக்கு பஸ்ல போக ரொம்ப ஆசை. போன பஸ்ல எல்லாம் புது பாடல்கள் ஒலிப்பரப்பினார்கள். எல்லோரும் டாலடிக்கும் செல்போன்களை கையில வெச்சுக்கிட்டு, சிலர் பேசறாங்க, சிலர் பழைய பாடல்களா கேட்டாங்க.. இதுல ஆச்சர்யம் இல்லை. செல்போன் இருந்தா இதெல்லாம் சகஜம் தான். ஏறக்குறைய எல்லா பஸ்சிலும் இது தான் வழக்கமா இருந்ததை பார்த்தேன்.

ஆனால், நான் பட்டுகோட்டையிலிருந்து தஞ்சாவூர் போன ஒரு பஸ்சிலும், பட்டுகோட்டையிலிருந்து வேளாங்கண்ணி போன ஒரு பஸ்சிலும், ராஜா கோர்வை பாடல்கள் போட்டார்கள். ஆத்து மேட்டுல, வெளக்கு வெச்ச நேரத்துல, சாம கோழி, பூவாடை காற்று போன்ற பிரமாதமான பாடல்கள்... என் கண்ணால் பார்த்ததை நானே நம்பவில்லை, நான் ரசித்து கேட்டது ஒருபுறம், ஆனால் அந்த பஸ்களில் வேறு பயணிகள் யாரும் செல்போனில் பேசியோ, செல்போனில் பாடல்கள் கேட்டோ நான் பார்க்கவில்லை. என்னை போலவே எல்லோரும் பாடல்களை ரசித்திருக்க வேண்டும்.

You have brought a very important point here... we all want to identify or highlight just "our" people. In youtube many Malayalam songs are simply highlighting KJY, Telugu songs highlighting SPB, Kannada songs highlighting Rajkumar and Tamil songs highlighting IR or ARR. If you read the comments for those songs.. you can see more than 70% folks are again talking about the greatness of KJY in Malayalam, SPB in Telugu, etc. etc.,

I think it is just human nature.
