"Compensation" do theatre owners have the right?

Ok i wanted to discuss this with hubbers for many months. I see that when a big actors movie releases there is a huge hype and then why the film dont make it big the parties involves init want compensation.

Recently Vijay's sura flopped and theatre sangam joined together in a protest and asked for compensation. They have done so in the past with Superstar's movie such as Baba.

If we look at these in a business point of view its surely a risk that the owners are willing to take which is why they are paying the asking price for the movie. Then why should they ask for compensation? Dont they sign a contract saying that this movie is sold under the due impression of the star value and their market power? If a movie flops the actor, directors and co's market value slumps and the purchase power for their movie slumps with this too, right?

Lets say for argument sake that theatre owners buy each movie under the impression that the movie will profit or atleast break even for them then why they dont they ask compensation for every movie? Rather than preying on big star cast movie? I know that they pay more for the movie with big star cast but surely the risk is with the theatre owners?

I would say that in a business POV every company is taking risk, surely the producers are trusting the directors and they are trusting their story and the actor and so on. Therefore if a movie flops reduce the asking price for it rather than protesting over their next release?

most of the heros and producers dont have the guts, yes guts to sell thier movie for nominal price so that even if the movie fails the buyers are less affected. Kamal sold MX and UPO for less amount. MX failed and UPO became superhit.

compensation shall be given if the sale price is too high and expected profit wasn't collected.

for vijay's case the buyers are not asking for one but 4 films, so there may be some valid point

    Aalungatchi sathiyaa irukkalaam.

but the question is, compensation with right reasons is entertainable or not. for which i answered yes.

if they NEVER asked and were total quiet during release of those films and suddenly come up now with made-up loss list, then its ignorable and i guess the case should be legally approached to win out.

    Sort of Digression:-

What all the upcoming actors keeping rajini, kamal in mind is, Cinema is not a business. One can enter and continue to be an actor and try the best to become a star.

Rajini had huge intentions on becoming a Star, not only he became that(Super Star) but also sustains for long years

Kamal never wanted even to become an actor, but he was given a chance to act/perform and he was made a big star by people, something which kamal didn't wish for, actually. Even now he is mostly trying to remain an actor/artist than a star.

Now if you look at their generation, not only these 2 but all the actors(heros) kept thier growth at reasonable speed. They didnt demand for lakhs and lakhs of money, all of a sudden. Among those, these 2 had enormour talent and thus they are sustaining even today. Most of the rest are less age than them(Prabu,Vijayakanth, sathyaraj,Karthik) but they faded out.

But you see today's scenario. Everything is abrupt. Once danush delivers good performance in Kaathal Kondein suddenly he wants to become an action hero and does a series of Sullans and his salary also touches crores. These days, big budgets are becoming too common and all of a sudden, all these stars act in movies of budget 20 30 Crores and take hugh renumeration. For dasavatharam, Kamal openly said on stage that any loss due to this film will be of his responibility. Rajini didn't said but no one has a doubt about his responsibility. How many actors of today's generation think in that way?! Chunking out masalas, they think somehow the film will run. One best doomed example is vikram. Except pithamagan, all his movies are commercial and where is he now?! Once he gave dhool saamy and it was said saamy collection rubbed padayappa. Now whats happenning? These days, actors rise as stars soon and they fall down soon, too. Ajith and Vijay now itself looks like seniors and there is a big pressure on their movies' collection. Looks like if Vijay gets a good political success, he will slowdown movies, and ajith too is not looking very interesting. No vision, no strategy.

Stars should recognise that Movies are still an art, not business, and are originating from papers not from mass and stills of heroes. Thatswhy low budget films are enjoying healthy success.
