விஜய்யின் 21 ஆண்டு கால சினிமா பயணம்...

ரஜினிக்குப் பிறகு குழந்தைகள் முதல் பெரியவர்கள் வரை விரும்பும் நடிகர்களில் முக்கியமான இடத்தை பிடித்திருப்பவர் விஜய்தான். நடனமா, ஆக்ஷனா இல்லை காமெடியா... அனைவரையும் விஜய் கவர்ந்ததற்கு இதில் ஏதாவது ஒன்று காரணமாக இருக்கும். வீட்டில் நான்கு குழந்தைகள் இருந்தால் இரண்டு பேர் விஜய் ரசிகர்களாகவே இருக்கிறார்கள். குழந்தைகளை கவர்வதுதான் இருப்பதிலேயே கடினமானது. காசு, பணம் கொடுத்து வரக்கூடியதல்ல அது. விஜய்யின் படங்கள், அவரின் கதாபாத்திரங்கள் வெளிப்படுத்தும் குழந்தைத்தனத்தின் வெற்றியாக கூட இதனை சொல்லலாம்.

அப்பா எஸ்.ஏ.சந்திரசேகரனின் இயக்கிய ‘நாளைய தீர்ப்பு’ படத்தில் விஜய் அறிமுகமானபோது, இப்போதைய உயரத்தை எட்டுவார் என்று யாரும் நினைத்து பார்த்திருக்க மாட்டார்கள். இதோ... ‘நாளைய தீர்ப்பு’ படம் வெளியாகி இருபத்தி ஓராண்டுகள் ஓடிவிட்டன. சாதாரண விஜய்யாக அறிமுகமானவர், இன்று ரசிகர்களால் ‘இளைய தளபதி’யாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறார்.

படிப்படியாக, நடனம், நடிப்பு, ஆக்ஷன் என்று கமர்ஷியல் ஹீரோவுக்குத் தேவையான அத்தனை விஷயங்களையும் கற்றுக்கொண்ட விஜய், தொடர்ந்து நாலு ஃபைட், அஞ்சு பாட்டு, என ஒரு ஃபார்முலா வளையத்திற்குள்ளேயே சாதாரண ஹீரோவாகவே வலம் வந்தார்.

ஆனால், ‘பூவே உனக்காக’ படத்தின்மூலம் இந்த வளையத்தை உடைத்து இவரை வெளியே கொண்டு வந்தார் இயக்குனர் விக்ரமன். ‘விஷ்ணு’, ‘ரசிகன்’, ‘கோயம்புத்தூர் மாப்ளே’ போன்ற படங்கள் மக்கள் மத்தியில் விஜய்யை பற்றி உருவாக்கி வைத்திருந்த எண்ணங்களைச் சட்டென்று மாற்றிப்போட்டது ‘பூவே உனக்காக’. விஜய்யை தமிழ் சினிமாவிற்கு ஒரு நடிகராக அடையாளம் காட்டியது. குறிப்பாக, இந்தப் படத்தில் விஜய் க்ளைமாக்ஸில் பேசும் காதல் வசனங்கள் ரசிகர்களிடையே பிரபலமாகின. ‘பூவே உனக்காக’ விஜய்யின் வெற்றியின் முதல் படிக்கட்டு என்றுதான் சொல்லவேண்டும். சூப்பர் குட் ஃபிலிம்ஸ் தயாரிப்பில் பாலசேகரன் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான ‘லவ்டுடே’ படத்தின் வெள்ளிவிழா கண்ட வெற்றி இளைஞர்களிடம் இவருக்கான தனி இடத்தை உறுதிப்படுத்தியது.

1998ல் சங்கிலி முருகன் தயாரிப்பில், ஃபாசில் இயக்கத்தில் வெளிவந்த ‘காதலுக்கு மரியாதை’ விஜய்யை தங்கள் வீட்டு செல்லப்பிள்ளையாக அனைவரையும் உணர வைத்தது. இந்தப் படத்தின் வெற்றி அதுவரை இளைஞர்கள் மட்டுமே பார்த்து வந்த விஜய்யின் படங்களுக்கு வயதானவர்களையும் இழுத்துவர ஆரம்பித்தது. வித்தியாசமான வேடத்தில் முயற்சி செய்வோமே என ‘பிரியமுடன்’ படத்தில் ஆன்ட்டி ஹீரோவாக சவாலான வேடத்தையும் ஏற்று சாதித்துக் காட்டினார் விஜய்.

சூப்பர் குட் ஃபிலிம்ஸ் தயாரிப்பில், எழிலின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான ‘துள்ளாத மனமும் துள்ளும்’ படத்தில் அவர் ஏற்றிருந்த ‘குட்டி’ கதாபாத்திரமும் சிம்ரனுக்கும் அவருக்குமான கவித்துமான காதலும் ரசிகர்களை மீண்டும் மீண்டும் தியேட்டர்களுக்கு அழைத்து வந்தன. அருமையான கதை, இனிமையான பாடல்களுடன் விஜய்யின் நடிப்பும் நடனமும் நகைச்சுவையும் இந்த படத்தை வெள்ளிவிழா காண வைத்தன..

ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் தயாரிப்பில், எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யாவின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான ‘குஷி’ படத்தின் மூலம் விஜய்யின் இன்னொரு பரிமாணம் வெளிப்பட்டது. காதலர்களுக்குள் ஏற்படும் ஈகோவை அற்புதமாக பிரதிபலித்திருந்தார் விஜய். சில படங்கள் சரியாக போகாதிருந்த நிலையில் விஜய்க்கு புது ரத்தம் பாய்ச்சியது ‘குஷி’.

காதல் நாயகனாகவே வலம் வந்து கொண்டு இருந்த விஜய்க்கு இயக்குனர் ரமணா திருப்பத்தைக் கொடுத்தார். அவர் இயக்கிய ‘திருமலை’ படம் விஜய்யை ஆக்ஷன் ஹீரோவாக மாற்றியதோடு, ‘பஞ்ச்’ டயலாக் பேசவும் வைத்தது. இந்த படத்திலிருந்துதான் விஜய்க்கு என்று ஒரு மாஸ் உருவானது என்றுகூட சொல்லலாம். விஜய் நடித்த படமென்றால் நிச்சயம் ‘கல்லா கட்டும்’ என்று தியேட்டர் அதிபர்களும் நம்பத் தொடங்கியது இந்த காலகட்டத்தில்தான்.

vijay‘தில்’, ‘தூள்’ என்று தொடர் ஹிட்டுக்களை கொடுத்துவந்த இயக்குனர் தரணி தெலுங்கில் மகேஷ்பாபு நடித்த ‘ஒக்கடு’ படத்தின் ரீமேக்கிற்காக விஜய்யை சந்தித்தார். அந்த சந்திப்பு விஜய்யின் சரித்திரத்தையே மாற்றி எழுதியது. 2005ல் ஏ.எம்.ரத்னம் தயாரிப்பில் வெளியான ‘கில்லி’ திரைப்படத்தின் வீச்சு, படம் பார்த்துவிட்டு தியேட்டரை விட்டு வெளியே வந்தவர்களின் பரவசமான முகங்களில் பிரதிபலித்தது. ‘அப்படிப் போடு... போடு’ என்று தமிழ்நாடே ஆடித் தீர்த்தது. தன்னை சுற்றி வளைத்த பல நூறு பேரை ஒற்றை ஆளாய் சமாளித்த விஜய்யின் சாகசம் ஏன், எப்படி என்று கேட்காமல் ரசிகர்களை வாய் பிளக்க வைத்தது. சொல்லப்போனால் சிறு குழந்தைகள்கூட விஜய்க்கு ரசிகர்களாக மாற ஆரம்பித்தது இந்த தருணத்தில்தான்.

இயக்குனர் பேரரசுவின் காம்பினேஷனில் ‘திருப்பாச்சி’யும் ‘சிவகாசி’யும் விஜய்யின் வெற்றிக்கு கலர் சாயங்கள் பூசின. ‘திருப்பாச்சி’ படத்தில் அவரின் தங்கை சென்டிமென்ட் தாய்மார்களிடையே பரவசத்தை ஏற்படுத்த, எதிரிகளை வீழ்த்த அவர் வகுக்கும் வியூகம் ரசிகர்களிடம் கைதட்டலை அள்ளியது. குறிப்பாக திருப்பாச்சி அருவா பற்றி வில்லனிடம் அவர் பேசும் வசனம் அன்றைய குழந்தைகளின் ரைமிங்காகவே மாறிப்போனது.

அடுத்து வந்த சில படங்கள் விஜய்க்கு சரியாகப் போகாத நிலையில், பிரபுதேவாவின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான தெலுங்கு ரீமேக்கான ‘போக்கிரி’ அசுரத்தனமான வெற்றியைப் பெற்று விஜய்யின் பின்னடைவைப் போக்கி முன்னுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்தது. ‘போக்கிரி’யாக ரவுடிகளை பொளந்துகட்டும் விஜய், கடைசியில் போலீஸ் அதிகாரி என தெரியவரும் அந்த ட்விஸ்ட் ரசிகர்களுக்கு எதிர்பாராத போனஸ். குறிப்பாக, இந்தப் படத்தில் விஜய்யின் டயலாக் டெலிவரியும், பாடி லாங்குவேஜ்ஜும் ரசிகர்களுக்கு புதிய அனுபவத்தைக் கொடுத்தது. ‘‘நான் ஒரு தடவை முடிவு பண்ணிட்டேன்னா என் பேச்சை நானே கேட்கமாட்டேன்’’ என்று விஜய் பேசும் வசனத்தை படம் பார்த்துவிட்டு வந்த ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்களுக்கு தேவையான இடங்களில் எல்லாம் பேச ஆரம்பித்தார்கள்.

வெற்றி, தோல்வி என மாறி மாறி வந்தாலும் சில காலகட்டங்கள் அவருக்கு கொஞ்சம் சோதனையாக அமைந்ததை மறுக்க முடியாது. அப்படி ஒரு சந்தர்ப்பத்தில், அவரை தூக்கி நிறுத்திய படம் தான் ஏக்வீரா கிரியேஷன்ஸ் தயாரிப்பில் வெளிவந்த ‘காவலன்’. ‘ஃப்ரண்ட்ஸ்’ படத்தின் மூலம் விஜய்க்கு ஒரு சூப்பர்ஹிட் கொடுத்த சித்திக் மலையாளத்தில், தான் இயக்கிய ‘பாடிகார்ட்’ படத்தை, தமிழில் காவலனாக மாற்றினார். ஆக்ஷன் விஜய் இதில் அழகான காதலனாகவே மாறிப்போனார்.

அடுத்து வந்த ‘வேலாயுதம்’, ‘நண்பன்’ இரண்டு படங்களும் வெற்றிப்படங்கள் தான் என்றாலும் ‘போக்கிரி’க்குப் பிறகு அனைத்துப் பிரிவினரையும் கவர்ந்த படம் என்று ஏ.ஆர்.முருகதாஸின் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான ‘துப்பாக்கி’யைத்தான் சொல்ல வேண்டும். தீவிரவாதிகளை வேரறுக்க விஜய் எடுக்கும் வித்தியாசமான ‘மூவ்’கள் விஜய்யை பிடிக்காதவர்களை கூட இந்தப் படத்தின் மூலம் விஜய்க்கு ரசிகர்களாக மாற்றியது. விஜய் சொல்கிற மாதிரி “வாழ்க்கை ஒரு வட்டம்.. இன்னைக்கு தோற்கிறவன் நாளைக்கு ஜெயிப்பான்” என்பது மாதிரி, ரொம்ப நாளாக பெரிய வெற்றிக்காக காத்திருந்து அதிரடியான ஹிட் ஒன்றை ‘துப்பாக்கி’ மூலம் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்.

திறமையாக டான்ஸ் ஆடும் தென்னிந்திய ஹீரோக்களில் விஜய் முக்கியமானவர் என்பதை மற்ற ஹீரோக்களின் ரசிகர்களும் ஒப்புக்கொள்வார்கள். முன்னணி நடிகராக திகழ்ந்தாலும் முன்னணி இயக்குனர்களின் படங்களில் விஜய் மிகக்குறைவாகவே நடித்திருக்கிறார். சமீபத்தில் வெளிவந்த ‘துப்பாக்கி’, ‘நண்பனை’ தவிர்த்துப் பார்த்தால் மணிரத்னம், பாலா, அமீர், செல்வராகவன், கௌதம் வாசுதேவ் மேனன் போன்ற தமிழ் சினிமாவின் முக்கியமான இயக்குநர்களின் படங்களில் இன்னும் நடிக்காமல் இருப்பது விஜய்யின் ரசிகர்களுக்கு ஒரு மனக்குறைதான்.

அதே சமயம் அதிகமாக புது இயக்குனர்களை அறிமுகப்படுத்திய முன்னணி ஹீரோக்களில் முக்கியமானவர் விஜய். ‘நண்பன்’, ‘துப்பாக்கி’ வெற்றிக்குப் பிறகு பல பிரபல இயக்குனர்கள் விஜய்யின் கால்ஷீட்டுக்கு காத்திருந்தும் கூட, ஒரேயொரு படத்தை மட்டுமே இயக்கிய நேசன் என்ற ஒரு இயக்குனருக்குதான் தனது ‘ஜில்லா’ படத்தை இயக்கும் பொறுப்பை தந்திருக்கிறார். விஜய்யின் இந்த பண்பு நிச்சயம் கௌரவிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய ஒன்றுதான்.

சமீபத்தில் பிரபல வார இதழ் ஒன்று இணையதளத்தில் அதிக செல்வாக்குள்ள நடிகர் யாரென்று நடத்திய கருத்துக்கணிப்பில் 44 சதவீத வாக்குகள் பெற்று முதலிடத்தைப் பிடித்திருக்கிறார் விஜய். இணையதளத்திலும் பல இதயங்களை விஜய் கொள்ளையடித்திருக்கிறார் என்பது இதிலிருந்து தெளிவாகிறது.

He has spent 21 years in the film industry, worked in 56 films, is a versatile action hero who is also well known for his dancing prowess. He is a distributor's delight and the darling of the masses who still rules the roost in the Tamil film industry, which is no mean achievement for an actor. Vijay is affectionately addressed as Ilayathalapathyby his fans. After Superstar Rajinikanth, Vijay seems to grow younger by the day -he is the only star who has fans from the age of six to 60 years. The actor, who started his career as a child artist, debuted as hero in the 1992 flick, Naalaya Theerppu, at the age of 18 on December 4. He has come a long way since. His journey to superstardom has not been a bed of roses. But the actor's sheer hard work and perseverance, combined with a loyal fan base, which has been with him through thick and thin, has made him one of the top ranking stars of Kollywood.
Unlike his contemporaries,who started out playing chocolate boy characters, Vijay daringly began his career as an action hero in Naalaya Theerppu where he played a college student and proved his mettle. Box Office India described it as `the biggest blockbuster of the modern era'. Critics addressed Vijay as the new-born actor who grossed over `1 billion in the Tamil film industry .
What followed in the early 1990s were a few romantic comedies, which established his flair for it and his dancing abilities. In 1996, Poove Unakkaga directed by Vikraman, turned out to be a huge hit and Vijay became a recognisable star, completing 27 films in various genres between 1996 and 2003. Choudhary, seasoned producer, open business for his film, the distributors competed with one anoth er to grab distrib ution rights for all the jillas (areas). No film in recent times has sold out so fast. Even in Kerala, the rights of which have been taken by Mohanlal, Vijay's co-star in Jilla, the film is being released in the maximum number of screens.
EXPANDING HORIZONS Vijay is hugely popular in the neighbouring state of Kerala. And each time he visits Kerala, it makes headlines. Vijay has revealed that he loves Malayalam movies for their realistic approach and is a great fan of Mammootty's and Mohanlal's. Fans in Kerala have also erected a robotic statue of the actor there. A lifelike statue, it moves electronically to the beats of Vijay's songs. The star is equally well-liked in Karnataka.
A TRAINED SINGER Vijay is a trained singer and has sung for composers like Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan, Vidyasagar, Deva, Devi Sri Prasad and recently for Imman for Jilla. He sang most of his songs in the films he acted in and a few for fellow actors. After a gap he sang for Thuppakki and Thalaivaa and his number, Google Google and Vaangana became chartbusters. Imman who made him sing for his debut, Tamizhan, once again roped him in for a song in Jilla. “He was very reluctant to sing a melodious number for the first time, but we're very happy with the way it's turned out. It has a lot of folk elements too and Shreya Ghoshal has crooned alongside him,“ says Imman.
