Tremendous response here in Dubai. Watched with equal number of fans of Lal and Vijay and both were trying to outsmart each other with whistles and claps. Great experience.

On the positive side, even though the duration is 3 hours, there is not much of a lag. Nesan actually exceeds expectations. Tailor made role for Vijay and he carries it with ease. Lal doesn't have the same scope as Vijay but still Nesan tries his best to give them equal screenspace. Cinematography was good too..

On the negatives, the songs were not picturised well. Editing was wayward. Couldve been much better. Some over the top sentimental scenes are there.

It has been such a long time since a good aappu movie. Missing them so much. I hope Jilla is similar.

Great news ....jus curious ...is it a fan's only type of movie? .....the haters will surely have only bad things to say......but will it click with the unsuspecting neutral/family audience?

I was concerned about the editing since I believe they had last minute changes and looks like it has backfired based on your observation

The film has been made for the fans and the neutral audience and I am sure they are going to lap it up. Dont worry about the purists' reviews. The film was not directed by Maniratnam. Its a Nesan movie, produced by Supergood films and they have catered well to their target audience.
