Vanjikkoattai Vaaliban is yet another milestone movie for GG, providing him ample scope to display his acting prowess besides his trademark love sequences. No songs for him. Padmini and Vaijayanthimaalaa were the love interests and the dance competition between them with the punch remark 'sabaash' from PSV remains the evergreen celluloid feast! GG looks young and energetic even in fight scenes.

When Sivaji Ganesan and MGR were enjoying a fanfare, GG was reluctant to encourage any such fan following nor tried to project his image. He believed in the quality of product he can deliver rather than marketing the same under a hype from the fan base. One hand he did not want to invest any of his hard earned money for such types of movie promotions and on the other hand he did not want to prompt unnecessary clashes between fan clubs. He could also prove his place in the trinity that ruled tamil cinema for a long time of course with no expliit supporters for him during his market fluctuations. He had a quiet, calm and contended life both on screen and off screen. Even amidst the tough competitions between NT and MGR, GG could survive and churn many memorable movies to speak volumes on his subtle acting skills.

konjum Salangai : this movie is a forerunner to NT's immortal celluloid saga 'Thillaanaa Mohanaambaal'. Though the performances as Nadhaswaram exponent by GG and NT are different, this film is remembered for its dialogue interludes/preludes in the song, unique voice modulations by Janaki, the singer and above all Kaarukkurichi Arunaachalam's enchanting Nadhaswaram flow!
for fond remembrances of Baaliah and Saarangapaani with NT!

Shanthi Nilayam was another significant movie for GG. The original 'Sound of Music' movie was such a grand musical extravaganza and it gave a tough nose finish competition to Sean Connery's original James Bond flick 'Thunderball' in the year 1965. It was decided by the producers to adapt the story theme but the screen play was little bit changed keeping GG's persona in mind for a hero who almost in all his movies had had two or more females of love interest. In this movie his first wife is a mentally ill one even as GG has to take care of his brother's kids after the death of the couple in some accident. Kaanchanaa an orphan brought up in some home comes to GG's villa as a music teacher and how things take shape...some suspense elements related to his first wife, development of love with Kaanchanaa...very sweet movie at that time with stunning visuals by the ace cinematographer Markus Burtley! And enchanting music with ever green songs by MSV!!For lovers soft family movies this GG starrer at that time was a great relief and it enjoyed a good and profitable run. SPB sang for the first time to GG replacing PBS. A must see movie, with GG in the role of Christopher Plummer and Kaanchana in the role of Julie Andrews as in Sound of Music.
