The movie doing great business across the world was such a boon. To top it up, the best thing that has happened is ARM has himself confirmed the box office numbers, I think this coming directly from the makers of the movie is another change we see in Tamil film industry and eliminates any room for manipulation from these self made critics and box office trackers. Personally, to me, this is a much more memorable victory than even Thuppaki. Moreso, because it will now encourage Vijay to take up subjects like these which do not necessarily fall entirely into the mass hero templates. Kudos to ARM.

And yes, special note of thanks to Vandu Murugans, Thirumas and all other thideer tamil supporters for doing the publicity on behalf of the Kaththi team...for free. It caused some stress for the team and of course for all his fans...but today it feels worth it. Awesome feeling. Time to celebrate guys.

Due to last minute confusion it did not release in Tiruvarur. Bosssiva regrets but apparently increased screens in other parts of TT area. Mad rush already in Trichy and heard from people ticket rates are very high.

Kaththi sets a new benchmark for South Indian films
Kaththi, which received positive reception upon its release, has been doing tremendous business at the box office.The movie's first day box office figure has beenofficially released by the makers. The overall gross on day one of the movie is said to be 23.80 crores. Below is the official statement regarding the collection of the movie.
We are now extremely proud to reveal that our movie has smashed ALL records in South Indian film history with an overall collection of 23.80 crores in ONE DAY.
16.45 crores have been collected in Tamil Nadu / Kerala / Karnataka and North India. Overseas box office collections have been 7.35 crores.
All work for the Telugu version is happening at a quick pace, and we will the announce the date shortly!
To be noted, AR Murugadoss has previously delivered three movies that belongs to 100 crore club. With the record breaking collections and good WOM, one shall expect the same magic to repeat again for Kaththi. !!
