King's speech kku ivlo award-aa? Writing, direction, performance AND film
I have this prejudiced opinion that the film will suck so bad. I have no intentions of watching it, for no apparent reason.

It's a nice little film of tenderly warmth and real feelings. Finely crafted (unlike the standard issue british chamber drama) & super ensemble cast. Firth deserves every bit of gold that came his way, much more difficult to earn feelings with the kind of gravitas that royal highness holds. And much unlike Bardem's in Biutiful, it's far less contrived for my money. There's no hollywood ending either. He lives with his defects, that's its whole point. But yeah, it'll be hated mercilessly after the Oscar win. In deed, quite an upset over The Social Network for Best picture. Although I think the direction award is about as deserving as other nominees incl. Fincher. Tom Hooper has finesse in making it as modern day relatable (To contemporary life issues/setbacks) as they are authentic. Which is why even "Damned United" works superbly. Transcending its genre (football management), just as TKS doesn't wear its period on the sleeve (much unlike Frears making 90's seem so privileged & monarchical in "The Queen").

I was hoping Fincher would win best director. Glad Inception won most technical awards, I would have preferred Nolan picking up the original screenplay. The only film I want to watch now is 'In a better world' and 127 hours of course.

Oscar proved one more time that it is all about momentum and marketing and present. Social Network was robbed from the best directing and best movie award categories. Voters have very short sight and they can't even think of the whole year.

How and why did 'The Social Network' lose to 'The King's Speech'? as TSN was a clear favorite to win the 'Best Picture' and 'Best Director' oscar till early January.
