have been looking for this song for a while on youtube. not a great quality video, but interesting nevertheless.
does anyone have a better quality video available..
better audio quality is here.. Ore murai un dharisanam
The beginning haunting chorus and the pause and SJ backed by guitar and pause and SJ again and pause again - Beautiful. First interlude is absolutely juicy with guitar and sitar together - awesome...
lyrics are also too good..
தென்றல் வந்து தென்றலை
சேர்ந்த போதும் தென்றலே!!
super!!
Again R.Sundarrajan is the director - the guy is awesome in creating situations for Ilaiyaraaja.
Another good song - Mouname - tuned in line with old movies style.. breezy ghazalish melody...
reminds me of the song in "Idhu enga bhoomi" sung by KJY . Mano struggles, but pulls it off in the end..

Reason: Another related link found..
Apparently, a democracy is a place where numerous elections are held at great cost without issues and with interchangeable candidates.

Chakravyuham song is very interesting as raj_musing observed.
Naina Bole Naina, very haunting and breezy song!. Eventhough the interludes are short compared to tamizh version, it does not take out the beauty of the song. I am imagining if Asha ji would have born little later so that she could have sung more such songs of IR, or IR would have born earlier to use her frequently in his composition. SJ version is way better only just because Asha ji has sung this song much later in her career, otherwise, it would be difficult to pick the winner.
One a side note, are there two versions of this song. I have another one below, but the composition (lyrics and ludes) is exactly same as Jai posted.

'alai meedhu thadumARuthE siRu Odam' from anbuLLa malarE (got directed from the B-K thread to raaga.com for this beauty).
I remember appeciating this song during college days but always commenting it as 'veLLaippuRa onRu' version 2
(The orchestration arrangements make one feel almost like listening to the same "track" with the singer portion replaced)
Excellent, sweet song with a tougher saraNam part than the veLLaippuRA smoothie. (IR carefully chose VJ for this high-pitch song and replaced KJY with SPB so as to disguise the similarities to naive listeners)

But for this, I feel the S Janaki version is slightly ahead
Probably because the situation demanded Asha bhosle to sing this more casually, than with the extreme depth and intensity with which Janaki rendered this.. Compare the Alap of this and the original one.

Ofcourse I remember, there was one more version for that "Jhony" song and that was used by raja in a malayalam movie "Twinkle Twinkle little star".
This was packaged in an entirely different manner and probably the rythms stand out:- Enjoy!
