The production of the movie started long time back.. Probably interest would have gone up.. Also for Marketing and release he had spent quite a bit..

அப்பிடி என்ன Marketing க்கு செலவு செஞ்சார்னு எனக்கும் தெரியல. மற்ற படங்கள் அளவிற்கு Posters/Banners/TV Ads எதுவும் நான் பாக்கல. In fact I felt, AK wasn't promoted well. Before release it created a hype but that was only among the elite audience. As you said, he might have spent a lot on taking the movie to Film Festivals. Delay in releasing the movie must have increased his debts.

SS, நான் என்ன சொல்ல வரேன்னா, magazines, websites and bloggers quite frequently posted articles about AK before its release - About the star cast, presence in film fests, TK KK etc but the masses in Pattees and Thottees of TN weren't aware of its release. One of my friends still calls it "ஜாயி சரப் நடிச்ச தமிழ் படம்" When the movie was announced the Paper ads were quite creatively designed (Pulp fiction) but later on they didn't continue it.

There were regular ads in TV media particularly in Vijay TV and Sun meejik.. probably that was less compared to family promoted movies.. anyways my ஆதங்கம் is that Charan who produced a good movie faced such a situation...
