அந்த உளவியல் அதிர்ச்சியிலிருந்து நான் மீள்வதற்கு நேரமாயிற்று.

A very simple philosophy -that people throw in their everyday speech as "செத்தாத்தானே சுடுகாடு தெரியும்" just like that - can make a learned man like VM to have a uLaviyal -psychological- shock?

May be he simply tries to sensationalize here...

Or, it's possibly the normal reaction from a true atheist. For others, it shouldn't shock at all. Such things are day-in-day-out-discussion-points in religion.

Interestingly, that's one of the reasons why people are encouraged to visit funeral homes. (Ofcourse, the main purpose is to give a helping hand to the bereaved / console them etc but there's another important purpose - of self analysis -as to where one stands from the POV of the "sooner-or-later-but-sure-end-of-journey")
