Another thought running through my mind in recent times, a point which I've been itching to make (perhaps without properly formulating it). Shankar is dismissed too easily nowadays (I've been guilty of this myself), but it must be said he was one of the filmmakers who shaped the 'urban cool' those days. Some of the properly globalized populace of today's urban space may find this suggestion laughable, but I think it's true.
