History is very important. Bal Thackeray was the one who threatened Mani's team for the movie "Nayagan" and in fact he seen this movie as a censor board and provided a go for release after several talks. We don't know how many scenes he asked Mani to remove.

Hope you were referring to Bombay and not Nayagan. Anyway - That's why we should empower our directors so that they are against every rabid religious group who go about threatening them. Kamal had expressed his thoughts against Babri masjid issue & topics related to that many times. It is sad to see him admitting himself to the willful demands of certain groups. He should be bold enough to call the spade a spade irrespective of who it is - be it any caste groups, neo-age tamil fanatics, *any* dictating religious groups etc
