தமிழ் திரைப்படங்களில் மக்கள் திலகம் நடித்த படங்களில் இடம் பெற்ற காதல் பாடல்கள் இன்றும் நினைவில் இருக்கும் அமுத கானங்கள் .

1967-1978 வரை மக்கள் திலகச்தின் படங்களில் இடம் பெற்ற காதல் கீதங்கள் -வீடியோ பதிவுகள் வழங்கியுள்ளேன் .

1960-1966 மக்கள் திலகத்தின் காதல் கீதங்கள் விரைவில் இந்த திரியில் இடம் பெரும் .

நமது தலைவரின் பக்தர்களுக்கு ஒரு ஆச்சர்ய. செய்தி...ரத்ததானம் செய்யும் இந்த சுவாமிகளை அறிமுகபடுதுவதில் பெருமை அடைகிறேன்..அவருடைய பெயர் நடாதூர் ஜனார்த்தன சுவாமிகள் ...புதுச்சேரி அருகில் உள்ள மொரட்டண்டி பிரத்தியங்கிரா காலி கோவில் மிகவும் புகழ் பெற்றது..உலகத்திலேயே 72 அடி உயரம் கொண்ட பிரத்தியங்கிரா சிலையை நிறுவி உலகத்தையே தன பக்கம் ஈர்த்து புகழோடு விளங்கி கொண்டிருப்பவர்...அந்த ஆலய ஸ்தாபகராகவும்..பிரத்தியங்கிரா ஆசிரம நிர்வாகியாகவும் இருந்து வருகிறார்...எனக்கு மிகவும் நெருங்கிய நண்பர்...எனக்கு அவருடன் பழக்கம் ஏற்படாத அந்த நாட்களில் .சிறு வயதில் நான் தலைவரின் படங்களுக்கு போகும்போது எனக்கு முன்னால் தியேட்டரில் இருப்பார்...தீவிர எம்ஜிஆர் ரசிகர்...கடந்த 10 வருடங்களாகத்தான் அவருடன் நெருங்கி தலைவரின் விழாக்களுக்கு அழைத்து வருகிறேன்...நான் அவரிடம் ரத்ததான முகாம் நடத்த போகிறேன் என்று சொன்னவுடன்....கோயில் கருவறையில் அவர் கூறிய வார்த்தையை அப்படியே சொல்கிறேன்..."தலைவருக்காக என் உயிரையே கொடுப்பேன்..ரத்தம்தானா கொடுக்கமாட்டேன்..என் பெயரை எழுதி கொள்ளுங்கள்..என்னுடன் நான்கு பேரை அழைத்து வருகிறேன்"...அவர் சொன்னபடியே நான்கு பேரை அழைத்து வந்தார்..அதில் ஒருவர்தான் நான் சொன்ன பன்னிரெண்டாம் வகுப்பு மாணவன் பாரதி...

MGR – Jewel of the Masses

Tamil filmdom has been a fertile breeding ground for politicians. Marudur Gopalamenon Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR, came to politics via the films and reached the peak of political success to become the Chief Minister of the state.
Roopa Swaminathan, in these two books, narrates the life story of MGR and of another colossus of Tamil cinema, Sivaji Ganeshan, who shared with MGR the top spot in Tamil cinema and also entered politics in the same era. MGR made a tremendous success in politics but Sivaji proved an inept political player.
As a film hero MGR chose his roles carefully with an eye on building his own image. Starting with mythologicals, he moved on to social themes where he picked up the roles of the poor underdog who stands up to the might of rich oppressors and gets the better of them. This gave him the image of a modernday Robin Hood and a fan base which eventually turned into a huge vote bank sustained by more than 10,000 fan clubs that MGR took care to nurture and promote.
MGR presented himself as a man of the masses, selecting reels that projected him as a champion of the deprived. Sivaji rose to the top on the strength of his acting prowess. While critics did not think much of MGR’s talent, Sivaji’s abilities were widely acclaimed. The nation honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1966 and the Padma Bhushan in 1984. The Dada Saheb Phalke award in 1996 was the most appropriate reward for his contribution to Indian cinema.
MGR entered politics, but MGR had prepared his ground well and made a big success in politics. Sivaji, after an initial success, fumbled in politics. MGR joined Annadurais’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in 1956 and ever since propagated the ideals of the party — atheism and anti-Brahminism. It did not take the reel hero much time to become a real-life hero. This filmstar-politician, who came from Sri Lanka, came to be adored by millions of Tamils like an icon and grew to be the most powerful man in Tamil Nadu.
Yet the book that records the rise of this charismatic personality of Tamil Nadu does not fail to mention that during the 11 years of his rule, profiteers, liquor barons, real estate magnates and ruling party politicians prospered immensely while the poor the constituted the backbone of his support base lived in unbearable misery.
When MGR died on December 24, 1987, the city of Madras saw the biggest ever funeral in its history. Over two million persons followed his mortal remains, more than 30 of his followers committed suicide and thousands had their heads tonsured as a mark of mourning.

இன்னா செய்தாரை ஒறுத்தல் - அவர் நாண நன்னயஞ் செய்து விடல் -

இந்த பழமொழிக்கேற்ப நமது பொன்மனச்செம்மல் வாழ்வில் நடந்த ஒரு சுவையான சம்பவம் :


சின்ன சின்ன வேடங்களில் நடித்து, எத்தனையோ அவமானங்களை தாங்கி பின்னர் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்த எம்.ஜீ.ஆர்.ஆரம்ப கட்டத்தில் "சாயா" என்ற படத்தில் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்த போது :"குமுதினி" என்ற கதாநாயகியின் மடியீல் தலை வைத்துக்கொண்டு பேசுவது போன்ற காட்சி.

அந்த நடிகையுடன் வந்த அவரது கணவர் ராம்நாத், ஒரு சாதாரண நடிகர் என் துணை மயிலின் மடியில் தலை வைத்து நடிப்பதா? இதனை ஒரு போதும் என்னால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள முடியாது. பிரபல்யமான நடிகருடன் நடிக்கச் செய்வதென்றால் ஒத்துக் கொள்வேன். இல்லையென்றால் சாதாரண நடிகருடன் நடிக்க விட மாட்டேன். இப்போதே ஷூட்டிங்கை கேன்சல் செய்து விட்டு கிளம்புகிறோம்" என்று கூறியவர் தன் மனைவி குமுதினியைக் கூட்டிக் கொண்டு சென்று விட்டார்

இந்த நிகழ்வு எம்.ஜி.ஆருக்கு மிகவும் வேதனையை தந்தது. அவரைக் காட்டிலும் அப்படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் இதை ஒரு தன்மான பிரச்சினையாக எடுத்துகொண்டார். நமது மக்கள் திலகத்தின் முதுகில் தட்டிக் கொடுத்தவர், "கவலைப்படாதே ராமச்சந்திரா ! உனக்கும் ஒரு காலம் வரும். அப்போது உன் வாசலை தேடி இவர்கள் கண்டிப்பாக வருவார்கள் இனி ஆக வேண்டியதை பார்ப்போம் என்று ஆறுதல் சொன்னதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல், அதுவரையில் எம்.ஜி.ஆர். - குமுதினி நடித்த அவ்வளவு பிலிம் சுருளையும் அதே இடத்தில் தீயிட்டு கொளுத்தினார்.

ஆண்டுகள் சில சென்றன. புரட்சி நடிகராகி மக்கள் திலகமாக மலர்ந்து பெரும் புகழும், பேரும் பெற்ற சமயத்தில், நடிகை குமுதினியும், அவரது கணவரும், நமது கொடை வள்ளல் எம்.ஜி. ஆர். இல்லம் தேடி வந்து தாங்கள் அவமானப் படுத்தியதை மன்னிக்குமாறு கேட்டுக் கொண்டதுடன், தங்களது வீடு ஏலம் போகவிருக்கிறது, அவ்வீட்டினை ஏலம் போகாத அளவுக்கு உதவி செய்யமாறு காலில் விழுந்து கெஞ்சினார்கள்.

மன்னிக்க தெரிந்த மாமனிதரின் உள்ளம் :

மறப்போம், மன்னிப்போம் என்ற பேரறிஞர் அண்ணா அவர்களின் கொள்கையில் ஊறிய நமது இதய தெய்வம் எம்.ஜி.ஆர். அவர்கள் தன்னை அவமனபடுதித்யவர்களை பெருந்தன்மையுடன் மன்னித்து, அவர்களின் வேண்டுகோளை ஏற்று, வீடு ஏலம் போகாத அளவுக்கு பொருளுதவி செய்து, வீட்டை மீட்டுக் கொடுத்து, அவர்களின் மானத்தையும் காத்தார்.
