Today is the birthday of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, and I'm posting songs from his successful hindi debut film, EK DUJE KE LIYE (1981).
It was a remake of director K.Balachander's own Telugu movie Maro Charitra (1979), which had Kamal Haasan playing the lead role. The only person who was missing in the Hindi remake but had acted in the original Telugu hit, was leading lady Sarita, as her role was now played by Rati Agnihotri. Director K. Balachander, Kamal Haasan, Madhavi, and S.P. Balasubrahmanyam all repeated their artistry in the Hindi hit. EK DUJE KE LIYE was labelled a blockbuster at the box office earning a total of INR 100 million in receipts. It received critical acclaim upon release, winning a National Film Award (Best Male Playback Singer for SPB) and 13 Filmfare nominations, eventually winning three (Best Screenplay for K.Balachander, Best Lyrics for Anand Bakshi, and Best Editing for K.R.Kittoo).
The film featured music composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and lyrics penned by Anand Bakshi.
