It looks like Vijay has realized that he can be in mass masala films that are not only entertaining to his fan base but also to every segment in the audience. He did this earlier with films like Ghilli, Pokkiri and Thuppakki, and does it now with Jilla.

Watched it last night. It was a complete entertainer. In strictly fan terms, Jilla's mass almost equaled Thuppakki's class. Nice to see VJ do a fun movie after a serious film like Thalaivaa. It was not without it's problems however. Comedy could have been lots better. Kajal was basically wasted again. Songs choreography could have been better. Story wasn't anything special but the screenplay was racy enough. I enjoyed it completely in that 3 hours. Can't tell too much without giving important details away but Vijay has some pretty great dialogues.
And I think Sampath deserves special mention. Glad to see him back in Tamil cinema.

Wow, I did't say too much about Vijay because I did not want to spoil this. Looks like the cat is out of the back. I am surprised they managed to stop any leaks of Vijay in full Police uniform during filming.

Have they done the 10 min trimming? Which scenes were cut? Planning to watch the trimmed version.
