'Jilla' and 'Veeram' make merry at BO
Pongal has brought joy to the Tamil film trade.
Both Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Jilla and Thala Ajith’s Veeram are doing extraordinary business in Tamil Nadu. In outside markets both have withstood the storm from Mahesh Babu’s1 Nenokaddine,which failed to create magic and has emerged winners .
Jilla and Veeram which released for Pongal on Jan 10, has taken an extraordinary opening worldwide. The presence of Vijay and Mohanlal in Jilla and Ajith in Veeram ensured a thundering opening for both the mass action packed entertainers.
According to early reports, from India domestic including Tamil Nadu, Jilla netted ₹ 20.5 crore whileVeeram netted ₹18.50 crore in the first weekend (Jan 10-12), which is phenomenal by any yardstick. In Kerala Jilla has got a net of approximately ₹3.8 crore, while Veeram is around ₹ 1 crore.
In the overseas market also both have opened exceptionally well.Jilla leads marginally in the overseas market.
