Jilla is the biggest winner, box office collection report reveals

Chennai, Feb 6 (TruthDive): Vijay’s Jilla has become the biggest winner at the box office, beating Ajith’s Veeram with a huge margin.

Jilla was released on January 10 for Pongal. In spite of facing a huge competition and receiving mixed reviews, the flick has made highest collection at collection centres.

Vijay’s star power has worked in a big way for the movie and so, the film has become the biggest winner in the first month of 2014. The worldwide box office collection of the film is more than Rs 85 crore, box office reports reveal.

Like previous Vijay’s movies, Jilla was not promoted much. However, the film succeeded in pulling heavy crowds in the theatres.

The opening day collections were fantastic, followed by opening weekend, which too was tremendous. As there was a long week holiday for Pongal, Jilla ran with packed houses for the whole week. Thus, the first week collections at domestic box office was also encouraging. In the international market too, the film received a huge response.

Jilla has entered its fifth week, the film is still running at domestic as well as overseas circuits.

Apart from the box office collections, the film has earned huge amount from satellite rights too. In fact, the film had earned a huge money even before its release, through the satellite rights as the rights of Vijay’s Jilla went with a huge demand.

The distribution rights made around Rs 34 crore for the producers of the film, say reports. In Kerala, the rights were sold to Mohanlal for about Rs 4 crore and in Karnataka it was sold for about Rs 2 crore. The satellite rights were sold to Sun TV for around Rs16 crore, while the audio release fetched in Rs 1 crore.

Good Job Deepak . I think theatre count will dimnish drastically after second week. But competing neck to neck with other one even after so many negative reviews, feeling really good.
