5 shocking unofficial reasons for Kochadaiiyaan's delay!
2, 3 seem more probable.
1.
After numerous delays in release, Rajinikanth starrer 'Kochadiiyaan' directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin was finally expected to hit the screen on May 9, but last minute problems have tentatively pushed the movie's release to May 23. Though the official press statement from the makers is that the delay is to due to technical reasons and their intention to release the film in multiple language and in 2D and 3D versions on the same day, there are quite a number of shocking unofficial reasons being touted in industry circles for the delay in release.
2.
Producer's huge demand
It's said that the film's producers are demanding 70 percent of the first week collection from theatre owners; normally, they go for a 60-40 sharing agreement. Considering that it is all about the opening week collections these days and only few films attract audience after the first week, theatre owners are unwilling to agree to this.
3.
40 crore debt
The film seems to have run into legal hurdles, as reportedly, a private bank has moved the courts in Chennai seeking repayment of loan running to more than Rs 40 crore that the makers of the film have obtained from them. Kochadaiiyaan, has been made at a budget of Rs 125 crore.
4.
Modi effect
Only recently, Narendra Modi met Rajinikanth at this residence in Chennai, fueling speculations that Rajini is supporting Modi. Political observers say Rajini meeting Modi might have irked the powers that be, which could also be cause for the film's release troubles. Remember Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam and Vijay's Thalaivaa?
5.
Censor not done in some languages
Apparently, the film is yet to be censored in a couple of languages in which it is expected to release and this is being cited as one of the reasons for the postponement. However, the regional censor board officer in Chennai has gone on record saying that they could have certified the film even if it had been screened for them by Thursday morning.
They actually had 6 not 5.
6. Distributors not interested
Many distributors feel that, audiences are going to witness only a 3D model that resembles the superstar and not Rajinikanth himself. And, animation is still being considered as 'bomma padam'. So, they are not certain if the film will attract huge crowds like the Superstar's live-action films, and aren't ready to buy the film for a huge amount.
