Maestro Ilayaraja News and Tidbits 2014

The legendary Telugu movie director "Bapu" passed away on August 31 in Chennai. We all know that his last film was the great runaway success "Sri Rama Rajyam" which had the songs and background score by Maestro. The AP government is planning to erect a memorial for Bapuji at the banks of Godavari river. Anyway it's a great step forward by the present Andhra politicians. I still have my grouse that Sri Rama Rajyam was snubbed by the National Film awards committee which failed to bag zero award. The movie Director, Bapu and Ilayaraaja should have bagged the national awards for this classic movie. The awards screening committee screwed up the movie presentation to the jury members by having substandard audio quality at the preview theater. What a gross injustice to the musical score and songs from the movie!!!. The AP politicians (MLAs and MPs) didn't raise this issue in the assembly and parliament. In fact, the entire Telugu film industry did not win a single national award that year. This is in spite of having two Telugu movie stars in the parliament - Jayapradha and Vijayashanti. I had written to both of them regarding this anomaly. May Bapujis sould rest in peace.
