Carpet bombing is a warfare terminology which is now being used in film industry. A movie gets released in almost all theatres. Recent example being Anjaan. It ensures that most people watch the movie in couple of days. Piracy's impact will be less and even if the movie is bad, the production house will get the revenues before the word of mouth starts to spread.
But because of this, 100 day runs and even 50 day runs will become a rarity. But who cares?
