I don't think WC,exams could be the reasons. It is quite possible that the theatre owners are refusing to screen the movie due to case against them in CCI filed during VR release. I think this was reported in Nakeeran also sometime back.

yes these can also be the reason..
VR1 released exactly by exam time and its houseful all over..collected 14C in chennai alone only next to enthiran which collected 15C according to Behindwoods..may be 10-20% collection will be hit but exam time doesnt matter for UttamaVillain kind of movie..
Hope they release as soon as possible

Its his style of making movies and no compromise kind of approach with people in film industry/distributors/exhibitors is creating all these problems..beyond all these he is successfull so far but fans are disturbed now & then because of prolonged delay..if RK fans are disturbed by releasing 1 movie in 4 years which is not upto the mark sometimes KH fans are disturbed by halting many projects like Marudhanayagam,thailavan irukindraan,marmayogi and delaying the movie release for months..

Not sure if this is true. There is good sale value and preference. Otherwise one cannot start a 4th movie. I think it comes down to getting a big holiday weekend to have a great opening. We are all guessing many things as to the real reason.

Regarding UV --> Kamal finished the product and given to Lingu for release--> Lingu sold the movie to EROS

Problem 1) EROS has a bad name in South owing to 2 continuous flops here. Distributors who did business with EROS will be hesitant to deal with them again, so different set of distributors need to come forward to buy the movie.

Problem 2) Even the distributors are ready to buy, there are certain group of Theater owners opposing to release it who may be facing the problems due to CCI actions against them because of VR1.

Who is going to solve these issues? Lingu and Kamal should stop all the other things and work on this immediately to settle. Otherwise it will be delayed indifinitely..

Because of UV is not releasing it is holding the release of Papanasam also.

When is 'Uthama Villan' release?

It seems Kamal Haasan's 'Uthama Villan' would hit the screens only during the first week of April, due to various reasons.

"The film's producers are concerned about slew of releases in Kollywood, Cricket World Cup and Plus Two exams," sources say.

In all likelihood, the movie would be released during the first week of April, or for Tamil New Year weekend. It is directed by Ramesh Aravind and jointly produced by Thirupathi Brothers in association with Rajkamal.

Hold on! We may have an audio release sometime Feb.

Sources claim that the makers are planning to release the audio of the film during the 1st or 2nd week of February and if the sources are to be trusted, the audio launch will happen in a grand fashion at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. Official confirmation is awaited.
