Mani Ratnam has completed the shooting of his upcoming film Okay Kanmani and the dubbing for the film is currently going on. The latest is that PC Sreeram who is teaming up with Mani Ratnam after fourteen years has said in an interaction that Okay Kanmani will be like Alaipayuthey-2.
PC Sreeram said “Alaipayuthey was based on an incident which happened in the life of a girl who is the daughter of Mani Ratnam’s friend and Okay Kanmani is also based on similar real life incident “.
The ace cinematographer clarified that though Okay Kanmani’s treatment will be stylish and youthful like Alaipayuthey , the film is definitely not a sequel.
Okay Kanmani has Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menon playing the lead roles while AR Rahman has composed the music.
PC Sreeram has also confirmed that the film’s shooting is almost over and he is expecting the film to be a big summer release of 2015
Similar story line came in Thaai magalukku kattiya thaali(1959)movie- starring M.G.R & Jamuna

Mani Ratnam's upcoming bilingual film, OK Kanmani(Okay Kanmani) has been completed and the movie has advanced to the post production stage. Touted to be a romantic drama on the lines of Mani Ratnam's Alaipayuthey, OK Kanmani stands for 'Oh Kadhal Kanmani' according to its director.
Also the release date of the movie has been fixed according to the latest report. It is said that OK Kanmani will hit the silver screen on 10th of April this year and that the audio of the movie will be launched by the end of this month. Mani Ratnam's last movie in Tamil Kadal, did not go on to become a huge box office success as it was labelled an above average in the box office reports. Considering the maverick director's recent form in Kollywood, OK Kanmani has its own importance. Apart from the lead actors, played by Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, this film also has Prakash Raj, Leela Samson and Kanika playing prominent roles. OK Kanmani will be simultaneously released in Tamil and Malayalam and will also be dubbed in Telugu as Okay Bangaram. Like any recent Mani Ratnam's film, this too will have its music composed by AR Rahman while the camera has been wielded by the veteran PC Sreeram. With the film's release date confirmed, fans from both Tamil Nadu and Kerala have already started the count down for this relatively low budget film.

- VIKATAN

Watched Alaipayuthey today afternoon in KTV. Was better able to associate with the movie, than may ben10 years ago. Flawless flow and wonderful performances by Maddy and Shalini.
A simple story under the patronage of a master craftsman.
Looking forward to Mani's next. Should be welcome change for Mani himself after spending the last few years digging into serious stories.
If a 'limited' Mani Ratnam can be an inspiration for many directors and make so many of the general public including me, love his characters, I am eagerly waiting for the arrival of 'unlimited' directors who can create unlimited wonders. Would be good for the industry.

Sumaal doubt. VMP was a sleeper hit no? Nithya Menen fits the statement, but Dulquer had bengaluru days hit recently no?
And limited Mani is better than over indulgent Mani from recent ventures (Kadal, raavan).
