Thank you for sharing the link to the solo. Had not heard it in many moons, a real pleasure to hear it again.
Was "Pathinaaru Vayathinilae, Thaenaaru Paaindhadhu (lyrics alert! ) also from Deiveega Raagangal?
Went looking for it on Youtube, and instead found this lovely rare Hindi duet featuring VJ and Mohd. Rafi!

Naaz,
"Pathinaaru Vayathinile" is from the film "Sri Ramajayam". Music by MSV. Another lovely song in the same line is "En Kangal Seyym Kathalile" from "Karunamoorthi".

Well, at least the "Deiveega" part of the title is right. These days, I look for blessings wherever I can find them.
Have not heard the song from Karunaamoorthi. But that Kanngal bit has me thinking of this duet "Kanngal Paesum, Inba Iravugal Ilamaikku Sugam, Mogaveenai, Raagamaalai, Paadum Azhagae Vaa..." Endha Padam?

Sri Ramajayam rings a bell. I am sure there was a number by VJ that I used to love. Is there a list of songs for Sri Ramajayam? Enga irundhu pa pudikkireenga intha paatugala

Sri Ramajayam has...
1. endhan karppanai thEril - T.L.Maharajan & BSS
2. jOsiyam nalla jOsiyam paarunga - Manorama
3. velli chalangai thuLLi kulunga - TMS & PS (This was a popular song frequently aired on radio)
4. padhinaaru vayadhinile - VJ
No other VJ song in that movie. You may be thinking of "kaNNanai ninaiththaal sonnadhu balikkum" from 'subrabhaadham'?

Thanks for that Sri Ramajayam songs list. I remember Endhan Karpanai Thaeril. The PS / TMS duet will come to me when I listen to it?

Enjoyed that solo after a long time. Thanks for sharing.

Found myself thinking / humming these tunes over the weekend:
Ilamaiyin Ninaivugal Aayiram, Malargalil Ezhudhiya Oviam...
Muthal Murai Thoduvathu Sugam, Ilamai Malarum...
Uruguthae Idhayamae Arugilae Vaa Vaa...
En Vaanil Ponmaegam Panneer Thoovudhu...

Youtube has many great and rare songs from the 80s, but it always is a hit or miss depending on how you spell the title / song line.
Typed in Kangal instead of Kanngal (Jairam / Jeyaram / Jayaram all have different mixed lists!)...and this long forgotten (and dreamy) duet called in from down the years...Enjoy!
Slow?
And not so slow?

Music4Ever,
Many rare songs by VJ were unearthed right here in the past. Pathinaru Vayathinile was originally unearthed by Saravanan, if I remember correctly.
Jack,
Thank you for the song.
Priya,
I remember Velli Chalangai, the whole pallavi. The song played on the radio every morning back in its days.
Naaz,
Thanks for the videos. It is neither Jayachandran nor Malaysia Vasudevan. It is Deepan Chakravarthi.

I know! and the female voice does not even get credit. Nice tune, however.
I went looking for Kanngal Paesum...tried all possible spelling permutations, but no luck
