Sure .. the review is more by holding the original the gold standard and seeing how PN deviates from it rather than PN by itself! Why shouldn't the characterization of Kamal's character by seen all by his own ? Why should the main character be cold and not emotional with guilt ? There are others but the gist is that a remake does not have to be a carbon copy of the original. KH gives it another shade or perspective - a different personality going through the same issue.

Rajini may have been Jeethu's first choice ... but from Kamal's interview, he mentions that when Jeethu asks for Mohanlal's opinion, he says that if Kamal does it, it'll be good. I guess he's able to relate to Kamal more in this particular case. Rajini may have given the movie a totally different perspective ... not sure how it would have turned out but it appears that Jeethu did not compromise on the storyline for Rajini's sake ..

My two cents: Rajinikanth of the early to mid 80's may have been a good fit. But Superstar Rajini....? No Way... Theatres would be ransacked, burned by fans, if they see their superstar and his family being beaten up by a constable....and he does not fight back...IMO, the time for Rajinikanth to play the common man is long over.

Rajini is first choice of one of the producers ,not Jeethu.he told it very clearly in sun TV interview.his one only choice is kamalhasan . he also said otherwise he reject this offer :claps:

Liked it.. If you can tolerate Gauthami's kodumaiyana acting and the first 20 mins, this film is quite gripping. Sure shot hit.

What is wrong with first 20 minutes? No opening song with self praising lyrics?
