I am an American and I live in California. I have a couple of different language social groups. One of them is a Tamil group that I formed with some Tamil speakers who reluctantly agreed to join the club. But after a year we are all beginning to have some fun. We get together once in two weeks two weeks and try to translate some difficult passages from English to Tamil. We all try to find funny and challenging passages and try to compete in a friendly way to do the best translation without using english words. We find it very hard, as we don't have many resources by way of dictionaries.
Do you have any good suggestion for dictionaries, especially something that will help us with literature that has a lot of flowery emotional phrases, similes and metaphors in English.
For example, I am trying to translate the following phrases from a Play:
"Crucify the Insincere".
Scrap up all the moments of your life tonight"
Please help.
You can send me an email to kantakt@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance for your help.
Patricia.
