New York honour for Rahman
The Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan of New York honoured music maestro A R Rahman with World Icon award recently. The Mozart of Madras is obviously so happy about it.
“I felt nostalgic and humbled by NewYork Nagaram’s Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s honour today. எல்லாப் புகழும் இறைவனுக்கே,” the Oscar-Grammy winner posted on his online page.
Presently, Rahman is composing music for football legend Pele’s biopic, titled ‘Pele: Birth of a Legend’. In Kollywood, he is busy with a string of projects, including Gautham Vausdev Menon’s ‘Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada’.
Recently, Rahman met Pele in Kolkata. Before meeting Pele, Rahman posted on his micro-blogging page, “Excited to meet Pele this evening in Kolkata!” After the meeting, he uploaded a picture of him with Pele and wrote: “With the awesome Pele in Calcutta…!”

It might be true that he had to praise Rahman so much considering that a person of Rahman's stature watched his drama (medai alangaram) but still, there is some truth in his opinion that Rahman is a good man. As a fan of Rahman's music, it means little to me that YGM thinks Rahman is a great human being. But I share his opinion on "khwaja mere khwaja".
