Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will revive the popular character Balram Naidu, a RAW operative from 2008 Tamil action-comedy “Dasavatharam”, in his upcoming yet-untitled trilingual comedy. It is slated to go on the floors in May.
“Kamal will play Balram Naidu in his new film. Audiences will be introduced to his family for the first time. It’s an out-and-out comedy flick interspersed with sporadic action sequences. The regular shooting will start from the second week of May,” a source told IANS.
Actress Ramya Krishnan will play Kamal’s wife in the film, which will also star Shruti Haasan as their daughter.
This will be the first time Kamal and Shruti will be playing father-daughter on the screen.
Veteran Telugu comedian Brahmanandam will play the character Appa Rao, Kamal’s sidekick, which was played by late choreographer Raghuram in “Dasavatharam”.

“Most of the film will be shot in the US. The makers have hired international make-up crew to take care of Kamal’s look in the film,” the source added. The film, which is being produced by Raaj Kamal International, will be simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. National Award-winning actor Saurabh Shukla is also part of the cast. Maestro Ilayaraja, who has been roped in to compose the tunes, chose the title for the film’s Tamil version which will be officially unveiled on Friday(April 29).

only taking into account of main characters (and not characters like kameswaran in MMKR as they were not the heroes in those films)

தெலுங்கு பேசும் உயர் போலீஸ் அதிகாரியாக வந்து கமல் கலக்கிய பாத்திரம் அது. அதில் பல்ராம் நாயுடு என்ற பாத்திரம் மட்டும்தான் இருந்தது. அந்த பல்ராம் நாயுடுவின் குடும்பப் பின்னணியெல்லாம் இருக்காது. அதையெல்லாம் சேர்த்து ஒரு ஸ்க்ரிப்டை கமல் உருவாக்கியிருக்கிறார். அதுதான் இந்தப் புதிய படம். படத்தில் கமலுக்கு மகளாக நடிப்பவர் ஸ்ருதி ஹாஸன். பிரமானந்தம், ரம்யா கிருஷ்ணன் ஆகியோரும் முக்கிய வேடங்களில் நடிக்கிறார்கள். இளையராஜா இசையமைக்கும் இந்தப் படத்தின் தொடக்கவிழா நாளை நடக்கிறது.

Don't they have any better ideas? Didn't know Balram Naidu was such a big draw in Dasa...

எனது இத்தனை வருட கமல் ரசிப்பில் அவர் தலைப்பே வைக்காமல் தொடங்குகிற முதல் திரைப்படம் இதுவாகவே இருக்கும். மீண்டும் யார் என்று தெரிகிறதா என்று ஒரு ஹைப் ஏற்படுத்துகிற tag line மற்றும் மிகப் பெரிய லைக்கா நிறுவனம் துணைத் தயாரிப்பாளராக இருக்கும் பட்சத்தில் செய்தித் தாள்களில் ஏன் ஒரு முன்னோட்ட விளம்பரம் கூட இல்லை என்ற சந்தேகம் எழுகிறது. Promotion is very weak.
