Rather than the songs, what we should really worry about in our films is the symbolic power and metaphorical implications getting explained inside the film itself. And when it's not done, it becomes a complaint - Aararoo from 24 is a perfect exemple.
The utilisation of songs and background score points the difference in the scenes, time and suituations. Hats off ARR ji.
The lullaby song, is not a lullaby song, it's part of the script. We are pioneers in Musical Films, and that's our prettiness. Just like the opening song about creation in Enthiran, this mother's song in 24 is about the first 'baby' of Sethu Raman - Project 24. Listen to the lyrics and the thematic music along with the visuals - Samples :
Un Siru Kaiyin Asaivinile (En) Boomi Sulandridum (Aararo) => hands of a clock.
Un Oor Idhaya Thudipinile (En) Kaalam Adangidum (Aararoo) => the ticking of a clock.
Endhan Artham Nee Dhaane => amibition.
Indha Varathai Naan Perave Ethavathai Purindhen (Aararo) => intelligence / invention / innovation.
... so on.
