Best Picturisation/Choreography
Technological advances have been best made to use in Tamil films. Generally, it is accepted that Tamil films are miles ahead at least in terms of technology, when compared with films of other languages. The trend of having group dancers accompanying the lead pair in overseas locations continued into 2006 and is expected to also remain so in 2007!
Hubbers picks this time were:
Chithiram Pesuthadi's immensely popular vaala meenukkum
Dishyum's soulful nenjangootil neeyE nirkkiraai
Parijatham - unnai kandEnE
Sillunu oru Kaathal's new york nagaram
Vallavan's hip hop loosu penne
Varalaaru - innisai alabadaiye and kaatril
Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu - title song karkka karkka and manjal veyyil
Veyyil - GV Prakash's awesome entry of veyilOdu vilaiyaadi
So what captured our Hubbers imagination?
Never argue with a fool or he will drag you down to his level and beat you at it through sheer experience!

Results
'Vaala meenukkum' turned out to be a disaster (3%), and 'Loosu penne' could muster only 8%.
Only 5 songs got vote percentage in double digits. Notable among them was the upset 'New york nagaram' (11% votes) - audience were obviously not too impressed with the picturisation! 'Veyyilodu' (veyil) also had 11%. The surprise third comer was 'unnai kandene' from Paarijaatham.. Looks like all the lakhs that went into the CG and all were well worth it!
The contest finally came to between the two tamil ilakkiya songs: "Karka Karka" (VV) and "Innisai alabedaiye" (GF)...
And the winner is:

"Innisai" got 21% votes narrowly beating "Karka Karka" (19%). Was that a contest between choreographers or the heroes?

Best Lyricist
Millions throughout the world are linked together in this forum through their love for Tamil songs. What are songs if not sheer poetry. Tamil Filmdom has produced just not lyricists (paadalaasariyar) but amazing poets (kavignar) too.
And what a feast they provided us throughoout 2006.
Kudos to Vaali, Vairamuthu, Muthulingam, Mu Metha, Arivumathi, Pazhani Bharathi, Pa Vijay, Na Muthukumar, Thamarai, and many others.
In the running for THE Lyricist of the year, we have veterans like Vaali and Vairamuthu and also Naa. Muthukumar. Thaamarai, a favourite of Gowtham Menon is also in the race, while the surprise newcomer is none other than Silambarasan for his creation of loosu pennE.
With so many lyricists and thousands of songs, who will be the Lyricist of the year?
Never argue with a fool or he will drag you down to his level and beat you at it through sheer experience!
