IlayaRaja's Malayalam Albums
the luckiest music lovers in the world for the time being i think is keralites.
Raja is literally reigning kerala, his third biggy in a row is now out,"Achuvinte
amma".Ofcourse iam an ardent fan of Isaignani, but anyone who loves music
cant simply deny that he is gifted. Each and every song in the said movie
is just classy..Ilayaraja is pure class, with a touch of divine, each of
the songs are tamils loss and our gain. After comparing ilayarajas' recent
tamil and malayalam films,i feel that Malayalam movie makers are much
more inspiring than Tamilians for Raja. The three movies,Manasinakkare which
was a super hit and now Ponmudipuzha and Achu which just released are
reminiscent of the good old days,we used to buy each and every release
from Echo music company, doesnt matter who acted or directed them, the songs
were guaranteed to come out good.Every star from Saravanan,Pandyarajan,Rama
rajan to satyaraj,Vijayakant,Prabhu and The topmost Rajni and Kamal got
their due, each one were given their brand of songs that lingered on the
lips of every keralite and Kannadiga.
Now almost the same thing is happening again, its a pity that tamilians
doesnt care much to songs composed by the king for kearala.when i heard the
Yesudas manjari duet in Achu for the first time i thought someone younger
than Yuvan had composed the song. Thanks Raja for reserving your best for
us,humble insignificant mallus...the "melleyonnu" song from "manasinakkare"
oo la la...

Listened to Ponmudpuzhaiyorathu..Very good.Still does not beat kochu kochu santhoshangal, IMHO. oru chiri kandaal will be quite popular. ammaiyenna song seems to have shades of a sEthu song. But almost all songs are very groovy and melodious.
You dont have to be 'self-deprecating like 'insignificant mallus'. It is purely because kerala has a good sense of our classical music and the directors/producers have good taste raaja is able to give such quality. TN seems to be very 'trend' conscious.
Let us know whenever achuvinte amma shows up online. Also, any pointers to a reliable place to buy malayalam CDs online will be highly appreciated.
(BTW, is Jayachandran the MD same as THE singer Jayachandran ?)

I listened to Ponmudi Puzhayorathu - another mediocre album from IR. Nowhere in comparison to his previous mallu hit Manasinakkare.

If Ponmudi and Manasinakkare are mediocre what are u going to call the spate of Vidyasagar and M.jayachandran releases,scum??...u guys better stick to listening to Deva and S.A.Rajkumar,i heard the rehash of ages old 'Kadali Chenkadali poo veno' in Devathayai kanden under Devas baton, what a shame..
Talking about Kannada, anybody have any clue where i can buy
the cassette/cd containing songs 'Yaava shilpi kanda kanasu neenu' and 'sihimuddu nodi' in TN.

Hi all,
I had been under the impresssion that I had heard & knew all of Raaja's Mal compositions until recently when I hapened to know that even some older songs like "Poonkaattinodum" & "Konji Karayalle " were by IR.
With so many gems by IR in Malayalam (I am still discovering new ones everyday ) & his good flow in Malayalam continuing we could possibly have a separate discussion forum for his Malayalam songs.
I am trying to get a complete collection of Raajaa's
Malayalam Songs...There are some films like Dooram Arigey, Unaroo,Olangal(Vezhambal) & Many others that I'm still looking for. Can someone help with possible links.
Does anybody have a complte list of all malayalam movies for which Raaja has composed music (Even Raaja.com does not have the complete list on this).
