Nerd and others,
Just now got confirmed news in NDTV that
"Rajni-Shankar-ARR are teaming up again for Robot".
From now on, I will forget about any more Rajni-IR speculation

Raja_fan,
You want IR to score for Shankar?
And btw, Isn't Rajini's Valli an IR film? To my mind, the only good thing to write about the film was IR's work...

Not exactly !
I still believe an Rajni movie again, will give IR a major boost in visibility again..
But now, it is not going to happen at least for next couple of years..

Rajini is a saleable star and would definitely take Raaja to his recent crop of fans. But Raaja shouldn't go for populism any more. He's far beyond that, and he has reached a place where he should go beyond his musical horizon, than to regress with banal albums.

For starters, Naan kadavul is the way to go! The unconventional "surreal" music is more like it!

he scored for a movie called "madhu" last year. No Rajini movie will be worse than that and if you look back, ALL the Rajini+IR albums had superb songs, even super flops like vaLLi, UKNV etc., IR's last *hit* album in tamil was with another big star apparently :P

I'm not saying he shouldn't do Rajini's album per se. In fact, I also like Rajini's commercial film albums (even those with Deva if it's good to hear). I'm just saying that Raaja has to explore the unknown. Come to think of it, yeah, he could very well do that with Rajini's works. BTW, I was basically uplifting our Raja fan. He seems to worry over Raaja's market, and popularity, which in my books, would conform to a very regressive theory, which is not what Raaja-ism is about. Hope you get the drift...
IR's last hit album edhu? Cheeni kum with Amitabh? I liked both the film, and IR's work

I was talking about his last tamil hit, viru viru maaNdi virumaaNdi. IMO IR is better off doing films like viru than going for duds like madhu. I wont have qualms even if he quits films for good and strives in improving raja-ism (Is there a room for improvement :P )
