 Saravanan
These four short verses by T.V.Rathnam in arangEtram uploaded for you.

Some more details will help others also to enjoy these.
 kallArkkum kaRRavarkkum
 http://as01.coolgoose.com/go/song?id=62429
This is part of the title music.
Pramila's younger sister sings this traditional Thiruvarutpaa by Ramalinga adikaL in the temple.
The audio track in the DVD jumps over 2 lines.

 akara muthala
 http://as01.coolgoose.com/go/song?id=62432
S.V.Subbiah asks her to sing. "manasu kashtamaa irukkumpOthu pAduviyE. oru pAsuram pAdummA"
seems like the last 2 lines of Arunagirinathar's Thiruppukazh.

 pAviyEn kaNda vaNNam
 http://as01.coolgoose.com/go/song?id=62435
When Pramila comes home from Hyderabad for Jayasuda's wedding, the whole house is brimming with joy and happiness; she is the one who lost her innocenseand happiness; now deeply immersed in guilt and sorrow. Her sister is studying alone in a room. Pramila is watching over a picture of Lord Shiva, she asks her sister to sing a paasuram."appA manasu kashtamA irukkumpOthellam pada solvArE; ippO oru pasuram pAduviyA?"
That's Pramila's sobbing in the background. When she is singing Pramila just breaks down lying in her lap.

sri mAthA sri mahAyAnjE - slokam
 http://as01.coolgoose.com/go/song?id=62437
When the truth about Pramila's profession is blown out, Kamal pushes and throws her out of the house. Senthamarai (Sivakumar's father) comes to her rescue and picks up a fight with Kamal. The younger sister to calm things down, sings this slokam in front of Devi's picture with Pramila and Senthamarai leaving in the background. The camera moves on and captures everyone's emotions.

When seeing this movie you can feel the essence of these verses. so emotionally packed in different situations.

very well sung by T.V.Rathnam. (I can't imagine it is the same TVR who sang "aaLai aaLai paarkkiRaar " in Raththak kanneer.)
 Kudos to KB and V.Kumar!

Sathya Kabali tonnes of thanks for the mounathil viLaiyaadum manasaatchiye. This is one of my top fav songs in MSV-Kavignar-KB combo. Excellent lines, wonderful singing. Thanks again.

One more request. Do you have the thogaiyar piece of 'kaadhal siragai kaatrinil virithu'?

 Sathya Kabali,

Thank you for these couplets- My search of many years has ended at last- Thanks to you! I just listened to them right now--and reading your lucid descriptions-- kaatchigalum kann mun arangeruvathuppol irundhadhu! Thanks again for taking the time and trouble!

RR- sorry it should be 'Megangal irundu vandhaal'. In fact, the song starts with a stirring thogayara by the inimitable Seergazhi:

 Odi vandhu meetpatharkku
 unnmaikko kaalgal illai
 Oindhirundhu kettppatharkku
 neethikko neramillai
 paartha nilai solvatharkku
 Paramanukko uruvamillai
 pazhi sumandhu selvathindri
 ivanukko paathai illai--

 Then the pallavi starts:

 Megangal irundu vandhaal
 adhai mazhaiyenakkolvathundu
 manithargal thirundhi vandhaal
 adhai pizhaiyena kolvathundo?

 A moving song--and among my all-time favourites!

Naaz: Good choice of reminiscences again!

Saravanan: I will not contest your choice in Naan Aanaiyittaal. Probably teh least heard but the most moving piece. In fact, after seeing your posting yesterday I went back and listened to the song and came prepared with the four lines in
the "Thogaiyara" but you beat me to it. Also, thanks for reminding it is penned by Aalangudi Somu. He has also written Piranda Idam Thedi.
Is there a thread on Aalangudi Somu in TFM?
By the way, the song"Kodukka Kodukka" by PS is written apparently by V. lakshmanan. Have you heard of this lyricist? Other songs in Naan Aanaiyittaal: Nalla Velai Naan.., Thai Mel AAnai,
 Naan Uyara Uyara...

RR: Vidwan V Lakshmanan is a famed astrologer who is more popularly known as 'Balajosiyar' Lakshmanan. He was a great friend of the late Manian, along with whom he produced MGR films like Idhaya Veenai & Pallaandu Vaazhga. He was also among those who were considered to be in MGRs coterie.

He wrote lyrics for some good songs- The two songs sung by Panigrahi in Aval Yaar-1959: Naan thedum pothu and Kann kaanum minnal thaano were perhaps the first songs he wrote. He was the lyricist for all the songs in S Balachandars Bommai-1964.
Amma endraal paal tharuvaal- Karpooram-1967, Manam oru kurangu and Aruppokkottai machchaan- both Manam Oru Kurangu-also 1967 are other songs by V Lakshmanan that I recall.
