She was in 'Oru Kai Osai' with Bhagyaraj. All her performances seemed very similar to me.
Havent seen OKO. I think its got to do with the characters she played. A dumb housewife in UP and a cancer patient in Nandu. Innocent, pitiable characters.

enakku therinju, ladies and kids went for repeated viewing mainly because of Jo. The nice thing about her is she never let success get into her head, though she remained at the top until she quit acting. One of the very few 'decent' actresses

I pretty much love Shobha in everything I have seen her in. MuLLum Malarum, Nizhal Nijamaagirathu [enna padam-paa Kamal, Anumanthu (the only other time I had seen him was Simla Special where he is a laugh riot as a lecherous cultural committee secretary), Sumithra and of course Shobha.] and Moodu Pani. I've wanted to watch Lekhayude Maranam (a Malayalam movie supposedly based on her life - nearly 170 mins long
) but dont even know where to find it.

For eg.: I don't think any actress anywhere can ever do the Sathyavan-Savithri skit in Navarathri. You don't even need a time handicap to enjoy that today. She is acting within acting when she does that - when most heroines struggle to act once in their entire career. Best by a distance.

when she says "சரி..இருக்கட்டும்"..effortless acting.

My Fav would be without a blink of eye - Urvasi...
its a pity that she didnt get a lot of good oppurtunities to display her versatility. Now with age not in her side, she would need to be content with marginal not-so-important roles.
She is so natural, she performs so many inconspicuous expressions, its a joy to watch her in any role. Needless to say she is at her best in Comedy

I am having a hard time trying to list out other female performers, its such a rarity for an actress to get screentime, leave alone making an impact in such short duration.
I used to like revathy, but I think she is too one-dimensional. Someone pls correct me by pointing out some of her better performances.
Jo performs what I would call as "sellable acting" .. its so prominent, in-the-face that its hard for you not to notice it. Mind you she is still a very fine actress.
Heroines who had good run eventually turned out to be better performers, say Sridevi, Simran, Kushboo.
So, who else?
I dont watch that many movies

I believe Urvashi's range was better satisfied in Malayalam. ThalyaNa Manthram-nu oru padaththula she plays the capricious older daughter-in-law, defining performance of hers for me.
If we are talking beauty, I am yet to be enamored of anyone as I was of Amala. She was a decent actress too, in Sathya and Pesum Padam and passable in Vetham Puthithu.
