    Hmmm.. Let's see

    * Great writing (Characterizations, screenplay, pace, dialogues, taking an age old story to a new level etc.)
    * Direction (Acting, style, camera, presentation, conceiving the script etc)
    * Music
    * Cinematography

    mathadhellAm Maddy, CR etc solluvaanga In my humble opinion, one of the top 5 films of this decade.

    The problem I have with this film is the middle part. I felt the screenplay was meandering for sometime after he returns back to Delhi. Though there were some key plot points happening, it was dragging very much testing my patience.

    Probably I need a re-watch.

    Re-watch ellAm paNNaadheenga.

    It is a lovely film but tested my patience a lot. But descending spiral-ai meandering-A dhaan kaamikka mudiyum, crisp-A kaamikka mudiyAdhu. I found Chanda particularly uninteresting. That is how she is supposed to be estra estra estra.

    Maqbool,HKA remain clearly unassailed in my books.

    ippa annan, kozhaindhakku 200 rooba moi ezhudhuvaar-ngra madhiri maatti vittutteenga

    characterisation in this movie is one of the best i have seen......paro's character throws so much of weight by taking revenge on dev.....it also breaks the age old image of devdas as torchbearer of love.......it just reduces dev to a loser who self-pities himself and who doesent want to change.......and finally he realises life is about second chances and takes up the second chance in climax .......chanda's character too made a heavy impact by slapping the pevert, hypocritic indian society.......that chunni (pimp) character is ridden with counterpoints - nee nallavana kettavana-nnu ketkura range-la ......i donno how pundits felt, but enakku idhu ultimate characerisations......characters being true to themselves not coming under cinematic framework for a single moment even.....

    screenplay was again great with the mix of today;s scandals like hit-and-run case, MMS scandal with age old devdas's style of liquor, smoking and finally sitting on the street with dog ......i mean the juxtaposition was so seamless and true yet makes a great cinematic experience.......everything was so new and opposite in this movie right from paro-servant conflict to emotional athyachar brass version (sung with paro's emotions) to dev becoming a male slut upto the final credits rolling bottoms up ....it just beats the hell out of existing cinema.....

    style - to show a deglamourised loser like Dev as stylish is a great achievement......just imagine if younger day rajinikanth or amitabh would have done this movie.....

    attention to details was great.......the way they show kick after a joint or peg is never seen before.........when he immerses himself in water, the pardesi song sounds exactly how it would when heard under the water ........

    i think the clinching part for me, nerd or CR, is the usage of music to move fwd the narration.........emotional athyachar rock version, pardesi, saali kushi and the climax song hulchul si are just brilliant cinematic sequences which is so unique abt this movie.......i would rate this more than maqbool or HKA or omkara just for the music......trust me, our strength is music and the way, we are going to beat other industries is giving great movies with great music........

    wanted to write it better, parava illa :P
