continuing with a interesting discussion in UPO thread on movie run and collections - its pretty much relevant for kollywood, bollywood fight too
VaanaramAiyram recovered all its cost of 20+ crores with collections from A centres only, which means u can make "serious"* cinema and recover its costs with A centre collection in today's market scenario.......so, when u can come upto VA, whats stopping you to come up to Kaminey, johnny gadar?? i say its talent - i dont think u can still hide behind tamil film market/collection dynamics.......dhoodh ka dhoodh etc etc
*VA was just a attempt at serious movie making but it wasnt

yen? avaru padikka maattara? :P
my point: when u can pass off a VA with ur A centre audience, why dont u try a "kaminey"? kaminey would have become a bigger hit in tamil than what it was in hindi

dont worry, i'm not bringing them "in" this time .......
kaminey had good screenplay, good comedy, punch dialogues*, item song and tamil being a homogenous market, its easier to pass off such attempts than hindi is my opinion......i mean, dont u think our A centre peter audience will fall for such a attempt? it could have been made less than10 crores and could have fetched more than that...
*enakku padam suthhama puriyalannu sila paer solluvaanga but i felt lot of punch in the dialogues
