Even in the 2nd half there was no dearth of funny scenes. Only the last 20 mins or so is ordinary. Guru Sishyan should have got around 47.
I'm actually wondering how did they manage to get such reputation for their reviews

I rate Murattukaalai above Guru Sishyan.
Guru Sishyan was hilarious w/o doubt, but MK was a well packed entertainer (AVMkku maruvaazhvu kodutha padam vera)
Murattukaalai was indeed by far better than Guru Shisyan !!! It was a classic

My parents still judge a movie based on the Vikatan rating. Leading thamizh magazine for over 50 years. Very widely read. etc are the reasons I think. I have even seen directors looking forward to their reviews. ippO kooda neeyA naanA kObi while introducing pandiraj in one of the episodes went, "vikatan aimbadhu mark kuduthu paaraattiya"...

They were good till 10 years back barring few glitches. There were days we used to watch movie based on only vikatan reviews. They were normally harsh on masala movies irrespective of actors. Arguably Kamal had greatest success rate with vikatan reviews when compared with anyone else in Tamil Industry till 10 years back. (He deserved it more than anyone else is the truth). Even his masala movies faced high criticism. (For example SKV 43/100 and Kakki sattai 39/100)

I think this scene is right after that song.
the scene after "en vaanile" is where sridevi plays the sitar and rajini stops it and tells about his mother.. the proposal by sridevi comes much later in the movie i suppose

Are you sure Nerd for 47 Vikadan marks to Guru Sishyan? If you think Guru Sishyan deserves 47, then other good films like Annamalai, padikkaathavan deserve more than 60 marks..

I dont think vikatan will give more than 45 for any masala movie.

But, let me contradict my own statement kalyaanaraman earned more than 55 or 60, I am not sure. Dont tell me kalyaanaraaman is not a masala movie! Bcos it is Kh who was rated highly those days no matter what movie he did. But for the past 10 years or so, Kh is in their bad book. Beats me!
This is a very big world!
