yeah...
we have been enjoying lifted / inspiration movies from other sources.. so many movies from dil hai ke manta nahin to thenali...
but they should not be rewarded in National level awards.
those adaptations should be excluded however fantastic they are!
They should start doing it at least from now on..

Vinatha,
Proof for the Janaki - Chitra getting NA for the same song :

p.s. Many Thamizh songs have received NAs for female singers and three women from TN have got NAs - K B Sundarambal, Vani Jayaram and Bhavatharini.

chinna info..
Even Oscars award has a "best adapted" screenplay awards.
They dont make a distinction if the movie was inspired or not.
Scorcese received best director award for "The Departed" which was an adaptation of "Internal Affairs" a hong Kong movie.
My opinion is - It is ok to be inspired and "Story" is an overrated concept in films. It is the narration and telling that make an interesting film - not just the story...
Apparently, a democracy is a place where numerous elections are held at great cost without issues and with interchangeable candidates.

Forget what OSCARS are doing, it is not about them!
yeah...
not just a story alone...
but think of a movie like அங்காடி தெரு losing to நந்தலாலா ..
It is not a fair play.
first thing first... originality...then look into other aspects.

On BGM?
AT's BGM is pathetic and shouldn't be considered for anything. (Still, it doesn't matter to me if it wins NA, as that'll further strengthen my conviction about how hopeless NA awArdu committiees are)
NL's BGM?
Yet to watch, so can't comment on it now

You are not even in the game in the first place for any awards.

Sureshs65,
"கே.வி.மகாதேவனும், கர்நாடக இசையும்" என்ற தலைப்பில் வந்துள்ள உங்களது கட்டுரையை சொல்வனம் தளத்தில் வாசித்தேன். சிறப்பாக இருந்தது. வாழ்த்துக்களும் நன்றிகளும். தகவலை பதிவேற்றம் செய்த ஜெமோ-விற்கும் நன்றி.
