Missed my freeway exit this morning on the way to work , because of being distracted listening to this song -
iLa nenjE vaa thenRal thEril engum pOi varalAm - a lyrical and percussion and a composition beauty. KJY, my favorite singer, starts the line high and mellows down immediately.

I liked the lyrics very much especially these two lines -

endhan kaigal neendu vinnai theendudhe

(this time I did my research to make sure it is by IR

Hmmm so far have not played IR music in car just in case of such a situation...get too immersed in the song
but thank you for the chance to revisit this album...am immersed with no exits in sight with "Kannama Kathalennum"

Yup. It is by Chakravarthy. It was very popular in Andhra those days. IIRC it had Nageshwar Rao and Sreedevi dancing. The movie 'Premabishekam' was a major hit and that is what got copied in Tamil. Again, if my memory serves me right, Balaji must have been the producer of the Tamil movie. He was the one who used to do _only_ copied movies those time. My feeling is that Raja would not have been happy copying the song from Telugu and hence he was probably not considered for this movie.

'Vanna Vanna Pookal' is a terrific album. I love all the songs in this movie. Raja's freaks out.

Thanks Ushaji for bringing up a beautiful song! Very complex tune, rhythm and orchestration and yet sounds so simple and Chitra's amazing singing!!
