Joy of watching NT
Dear Mr. Murali,
Thanks very much for your immediate response. My job knew no bounds when I received a response, especially from an ardent fan like you and it matches with the joy of watching NT performs.
For the past - almost 30 years, no single day has passed without recalling/discussing/referring about NT in some forum/discussions. Such is the impact this artiste has created in me.
I wish to recall one incident. 15 years ago, some guests came to our residence to meet my father and at that time me and my mother were watching "Gnana Oli", which was being telecast in Sun TV. It was a scene where the Father (played beautifully by Mr. Gokulnath) wanted to meet Murattuppayal (our beloved NT) and NT would come to the Father's residence along with Major. After getting permission from Major (of course with a warning gesture that his pistol would take care if NT mischiefs!), NT goes to meet the ageing Father. The way he goes and sits on the floor keeping his face on the lap of the Father and weeps - silently) - I started weeping unconsciously, unaware of the guests who were at our residence. For any NT fan, I am sure, when he grows up, his preference for NT's films and scenes also keep changing - the way NT changes his expressions. When I was yound, I used to enjoy the second half of Gnana Oli and after seeing it on the above day and from then on, I have been enjoying the first half. Because, NT (also) played to his fans in the second half whereas in the first half, he purely treads the story.
He is the only Actor on earth, who always played for his fans, which gave him joy which in turn also brought to his innumerable fans. Long ago, I read a Question/Ans. session in Bhommai where he answered to a question on what is that he thinks is the ultimate achievement for which, he humbly replied by saying that he was to yet to achieve any big think but; said further that "once a person becomes my fan, then, he/she will not switch over to any other artiste."
Ulagam ullalavum endha nadiganaalum indha saadhanayai muriyadikka mudiyaadhu.
Regards,
Partha
