Excellent examples of how re-tune a old composition but no one can claim plagiarism

He has interpreted this music in a very interesting manner. Raja and Bach having conversation between them while coming up with this piece.

The gist of the article about this marvellous piece by Vicky.

"You See.. that captures the Bhavam of a Raaga called 'Hamsadhwani'..
And then the place where you switched the melody to Harmonic minor, I see a natural blend of our 'Keeravani'.. Midway through you eased out the grip for a brief time, right? I see a place for 'Bageshwari' there.. And then we can go back to Keeravani and Finally the place where you close with E Major, I can bring back the original flavor of Hamsadhwani too."

A perfect example of counterpoint and how Maestro did it effectively and effortlessly. I adore him just because of this, His music is the only way to connect me to God!

All i understood is a layman's view that raja efficiently re-tuned the Bach number, thatsall

This guy - http://raagadevan.blogspot.com/2008/...-had-talk.html explains that in a geeky manner

    Respect comes

    Actually, thanks V_S

Suresh I join you for "Melle Onnu" as we have discussed this song umpteen times. A terrific song from his last 10 yrs list, where raja stands up and says "Iam stll here and not lost even a bit of my creative instincts.". The humming at the beginning of this song always takes me to Munnar Hills/backwaters where Satyan shared his experience working with raja. Infact this is one song which needs to be enjoyed when you are lonely and the feelings are hard to express...

    RM,

Yes. The humming is terrific and the emotion that humming creates cannot be described. Yes, it takes you away to a completely different and ideal world.

    Suresh,

After repeated hearings the "Thanga thingal" song also fascinates me and finds place at the top of the list. Perhaps not popular as the other one

    Vkrish,

All songs of Etchil Iravugal needs a mention and the S Janaki song in particular. Iam just enjoying this song now..

80s Raaja's Shankar nag collaboration yielded some out of the world songs.. like this one.. The second interlude is a trippy ride with the flute guitar and violin..
high dope stuff done with 0 intoxication, but results in life long indoctrination of Rajaism..

one more awesome stunner from the same album

S.Janaki lives up a ghost when she breathes her life into this song. Again the second interlude is IMPOSSIBLE to imagine stuff(that lonely sax and rhythms that follow the spooky sounds). global influences mix left right and center.
one is left breathless wondering at the awesome computer (one that can beat Watson fair and square) that is inside the head of this small built giant called Raaja.
