while you are finishing the previous gems, here is one more..
this time with extended first interlude,
and same singer singing two different tracks mixed together parallelly - how in the name of heavens did SPB and Raaja sync up the whole thing without a computer and modern track recording instruments?

oh yeah,,
Raja did some superb melodies in 90s for kannada films too..
here is one of my favourite.. was replicated in the remake of this movie in thamizh.

The prelude is lilting and the pallavi rendition is simply smooth by SPB..

just curious, what was the name of the remake in Tamil...and so does that mean this song also has a Tamil version?

Jai,

Wonderful songs. Though Raja has done very few Kannada films compared to other languages, he has given some all time gems. "Sweety' is terrific. I didn't like 'Bharjari Bete' when I first heard it and said so, only to be admonished by Rajasaranam !!! Now this is a favourite of mine. This song and the Janaki solo are just out of the world.

Listening to "Ooradangum saamathile" - Swarnalatha and Uma ramanan simply sweeten the song. But the clincher in the song is the background bass hum that manipulates your listening into a trance. Though it is as simple in its programming and arrangement as a "tampura", its scale changes and refrains are ethereally penetrating. When the mild guitar notes play in the back ground while the ladies are singing - it is "OUT OF THE WORLD". and when the song ends with the beat of the thavil as if to say - the song is over, you can come back now... Awesome

Also the song (ooradangum) reminds of "Gurvaayoorappa" from Pudhu pudhu arthangal - Same raaga perhaps.
swarnalatha - special note goes to her - her voice like the lone carnatic violin plays on - sometimes pushing us to the excitement and fear (oh you are going to go shrill here ....) but she has the awesome control that she is able to flirt with vocal disaster and still come out on top of the song.
Uma Ramanan - sincere - understated - plays the solid bedrock on which swarnalatha can root herself bringing in the risky flourishes - as much as Raja can allow her...

However the song totally is Raja's - One can only bow your head awed by the music that this man produces - but I want to hold mine high up - for he has filled me with some new confidence and trust in music - and in humanity that can produce music like this - day in and day out..

Listened to a heavenly composition from the movie “Manjal Nila” which falls in the league of “then poove” song from Anbulla rajanikanth.. .Yearning for more of these kind of romantic duets ,but unfortunately we are missing these pattern of songs from him nowadays..The song openes with that sax/flute bit which makes you spellbound and then takes you through a breezy drive instantly putting you in a state of trance! The rendition by Jayachandran and PS needs no special mention. I have pushed this song to the top of my playlist and am sure that this will be there on top for quiet a while…
