    Oomai ULLangaL (1981)

Santhanam - Beautiful folk song. The prelude is very interesting. This is a cakewalk song for SJ. See how Raja has cleverly used the last line of charanam in "mambutiyaan paeru sonna puli odhungum paaru" of "Kaatu Vazhi Pora" in Malayoor Mambattiyan.
Manathinil written by Kannadasan. A fast song by Sasirekha. Amazing brisk interludes with violin. It takes me to 'Adi Penne'.
Vaazhavaitha - Sweet song by MV and SPS. Charanam gets more sweeter.
Thulirvidum - What a melody! Sung by SJ and Veteran Kannada Actor R N Sudharsan, who acted in Nayagan and MMKR. I didn't know he is a singer. He sings very well.

Love all the songs. I wouldn't say outstanding, but it is a very sweet Raja vintage album. After 30 years they are still fresh.

Thanks At least I have heard the Thulirvidum Kaalam song on Ilangai Vanoli, makes me feel better. To me the other 3 songs were so/so.. except ofcourse for the music, which is always good.

Sasirekha was really bad in that song, and Raja I think attempted to tune an already written lyric it appears..

    Thanks for the Thulirvidum song.

    Balaji,
Thanks. Good to hear your nostalgic moments on Ilangai Vaanoli. Yes, Ilangai Vaanoli showcased some rare Raja compositions those days. Thulirvidum is an excellent melody!

    Usha,

Thanks for the youtube links. The sound quality is definitely good.

Currently listening to 'poonkodithaan' from Idhayam: http://www.thiraipaadal.com/tpplayer...3'&lang=en A friend of mine reminded me of this song today morning. Very well tuned song. Lovely arrangements. Very haunting.

WoW! Surely 'What a song'. Thanks San_K. Even though Maestro has tuned it, just imagining this song without SPB sir. NO way!. All the songs in this movie (Abhinandana) was sung by SPB sir (except one female solo).
Most of the youtube comments were also on the great lyricist Athreya garu. One of the youtube comment ("Only a person who knows the true meaning of LUV can feel and understand this song") made me curious to know atleast the lyrics of the song. Can anyone please translate the lyrics (and even pm me)?
